Anyone have an marty disk drive for sale or where I can found one? Maybe a similar disk drive that works fine on marty

The problem with my disk drive is that disks doesn't work, there's a noise from drive but the light doesn't turns on. Maybe anyone with same problem can help and maybe the problem is easy to repair

From my experience, not all floppy drives use the same belt...but if open the drive, you should be able to take the drive out and measure the one you have to find a replacement.

I've never had to replace a Marty belt before...but I have had to do Atari drives...

Its pretty easy to replace a marty belt. I did one the other day and it works a treat.

I've been trying to get hold of some spare drives but its proving tricky. Its a 3 mode drive (whatever that is). I've seen several old models but not the right one yet, and none that look suitable. On the case though.

I've got loads of spare belts if you need any. They're good for msx too I'm told.

If you're going to try getting one from a PC floppy, don't buy a new one. Newer models are direct drive, and don't use belts. You'll need something incredibly old.

I opened a Packard Bell computer from 1994...and its floppy didn't have a belt... so...look for a drive contemporary to the Marty.

Hey Arthur, if you need cheap floppy drives, you can get lots of them at that flea market in downtown (under the perimetral bridge).

One day i went there and there were tons of old computer stuff.

A thing to check with the cd part is that the little fold over tab bit on the lhs as you open it (top left of the cd lense portion, thw white wire coming out and ending in a black clip thing) is in place. Its this bit that tells the system the cd lid is closed.

I got a free marty 2 a while back as it had no working cd drive. I noticed when I turned the system on it did actually show life very briefly. Opened it up, folded that tab over and had a free working marty!

    Any more Marty drive belts?

    (Hi all),

Wheelaa: dyou have any of those left? - my Marty floppy is no more :(
    (sent you a PM).

Anyone else know of a source of these, or at least what the length of the drive belt is so I can look for another one?

    Many thanks for any help.

i've changed floppy belt on marty with elastic, the floppy motor run spinning fine but led doesn't turn on so it doesn't read floppies.
    Any solutions?

Yeah, use a proper belt.:). Normal elastic stretches too easily. Its also quite sticky so I imagine the wheels turn, the elastic sticks and the open bit expands slightly, then it unsticks and pings back..so you have more of a stop start motion than a fluid one.

Sorry I never got back to you re the belt, very poor. I'll dig em out and pm later. (both of you even lol sorry)
