I was wondering, does anyone have programming information for the FM Towns/Marty I/II? I guess I could look at the source for one of the emulators, but there don't seem to be any docs, at least on the English web.
And I'm sure I've seen some detailed docs for the PC/FX, but I can't seem to find them again. I think there were detailed register layouts, bios calls, memory map, etc. (Update: found: http://daifukkat.su/pcfx/ )

I'm mostly interested in the hardware differences. I found this: http://www.ktjdragon.com/ktj/towns-1/what-is-fm-towns-english/
I was wondering, does the hardware have real sprites, or are they done in software on an overlay screen? Are the screens bitmap or tile based?
How similar is the card to the console? Is the difference only the 3D chip?

FM Towns definitely has it's own video accelerator (sprites + tile + text layers) and audio configuration (YM2612 like the MD and a Ricoh PCM chip as found in arcade games).

The PC-FX board is a complete PC-FX and (limited?) development kit.

The PC-FXGA for DOS/V is a nice kit to have.
I hooked mine up a couple of days ago and it runs fine on a western Windows 98 SE. You need an old PC case or big tower, or else the huge FXGA cart won't fit and will bump into to HDD cages.
When starting the included programmer's CD you will be prompted to select the hardware address of the dip switch on the card, then the device drivers will be installed into config.sys and after a reboot you can play around with the various demo games of the CD.

A good place to gather information is http://pc-fx.moemoe.gr.jp/colume.html (and google translator of course..)
