12th October 2006. Nottingham, UK. GameCity in collaboration with HMV is stunned to announce the opportunity to win an original TEKKEN 3 coin-op machine at the exclusive festival tournament, taking place in-store. With entrants to the tournament needed to register online at www.GameCity.org before the 20, the tournaments will begin on Wednesday 25th, October - climaxing in the final at noon on Saturday 28th. Tim Ellis, HMV Head of Games comments: "HMV is hugely committed to promoting and selling new Games titles and formats, and we're delighted that our Nottingham store will shortly be able to tap into the energy and excitement that's been generated by GameCity through the Tekken 'Play the Past' promotion." <SPAN lang=EN-US>The TEKKEN exhibit forms part of the 'PLAY THE PAST' series at Gamecity, in which classic machines are placed in different locations around the city - offering players the chance to trace the history of play whilst getting some mild aerobic exercise. In addition to this, global videogame champion Bill Carlton - subject of the documentary High-Score, premiering on Friday 27th - will be appearing in-store on Friday in a special series of 'Beat Bill' sessions. Places in the tournament are limited, and you need to be available to play between 25-28th October so participants are urged to register as soon as possible by email to Tekken@gamecity.org You also potentially need space for a Tekken cabinet.
Nottingham eh? well maybe robbin h00d and his band of merry gamers could still those arcades for the poor bastards that cant go to england, like me:dance: Anyway, "play the past"? WTF? Tekken 3 was like, what? 7 years ago? how is that considered playing with PAST? After all, every friggin tekken is the same crap that the last one was...
Yeah it does  You've got the good old Matthew Street Festival  Actually, I remember when I was head of game in HMV Liverpool. Man, the amount of wankers we had come in to the store with dumb questions. Yakumo
They can't videogame (as a verb) for shit. Lots of retro crap going on sale though, for ridiculusly high prices here in Liverpool! There's also Psygnosis/SCEE Liverpool.. and I live quite close..
I heard from a few people that after I left the Games department went right to the dumps. I and another guy left leaving one idiot who knew jack. He then when on to be manager of game in Southport (I think) figures though since Game know jack about games anyway. After that I heard HMV Liverpool hired a few idiots who knew nothing plus got rid of all the Saturn gear which I worked hard to get in plus we had a great fan base allowing us to sell more copies of any Saturn games than Virgin /GAME and EB together My brother worked for SCEE in Liverpool then left to work in Warthog then after EA did the dirty on them (typical though of a shit head company like that) he went back to SCEE. Now he get's paid even less than what he did when he originally worked there. Yakumo
It`s surprising what a difference good staff make Here the GAME staff generally haven`t got a clue...spotty teenagers who think it is cool to work in the games industry ....whereas GAMESTATION as a rule they all know about games. I know of lot`s of people, especially non gamers, who have had a far better experience in GAMESTATION than in GAME, because of their knowledge of the products they are selling
So u can win an original tekken 3 arcade machine?! I picked one up from eBay for £150 earlier in the year. If the victor of this competition wants some 'handy' tips for their new acquisition; here they are; 1) gut the insides of the machine, the monitor will most likely be on its last legs. Makes sense for a machine that was hammered back in the day. ( How can a promotion be based around an "original" arcade cab? It's like promoting the latest release of a Hollywood movie by offering up a dvd "only viewed 10.000 times!" as 1st prize...the mind boggles!..) Pick up a cheap ex-rental TV -£30 and then grab a scottish supergun. Someone on eBay is knocking these out at approx £10 a pop. 2) replace the 1p start button (isn't it strange how the 1p start button was 1000x more worn than any of the other buttons? 3) insert a modified xbox and hook up controls to cab sticks/buttons 4) Head over to eBay - sell the tekken 3 pcb and recoup half of your costs.... ------ This reminds me of the time a Gauntlet arcade machine was being offered as a prize in Crash or Zzap 64years ago. Of course the difference is that at the time owning a gauntlet machine was akin to having a ps4 in your living room. As someone mentioned above, couldn't they have at least offered up a tekken 5 machine and keep with the times? ----
as an afterthought; by following my advice the winner could then actually play tekken 4 and 5 on the xbox/cab
Lol the best bit of Liverpool is the road leading to Manchester lol If i remember rightly there is a direct train from Liverpool lime st to Nottingham so you have no excuses...
