FOR SALE: prototype bleem!Pod, CD64 and Tristar64

Discussion in 'The ASSEMblergames Marketplace' started by Sweater Fish Deluxe, Mar 8, 2005.

  1. Man, i can't believe these forums are still so hard to use after all these years. I just got an error and have to re-write all of this crap just like used to happen on the old ASSEMbler forums. Cripes!

Anyway, hello all. Long time, no see. I have a few items for sale that I thought some here might be interested in.

First of all, I'm trying again to sell the bleem!Pod prototype that I tried to sell about a year ago. I never managed to sell it then because both of the top bidders fell through on me which I sort of took as an omen and just decided that I should keep the thing. But I've changed my mind again, so here I am. Hopefully I'll have more luck this time.

[Do I really have to write all this again?]

For anyone that doesn't know, the bleemPod is a device that allows you to use Playstation controllers on the Dreamcast, what makes this one special though is that it maps every single button of a Playstation controller including the second analog stick and L3 and R3 and Select and EVERYTHING. It never made it to market, of course, since bleem! ran afoul of Sony's corporate hegemony and paid the ultimate price. So the prototypes are all there are.

This is a v2 proto, which means that it supports all the Playstation controller's buttons and both analog sticks as mentioned above, but doesn't take PSX memory cards (as the v3 proto is supposed to do, but none of those have ever come to the market even though Rand Linden is sure a couple were made).

It's signed on the bottom by David Herpolsheimer, who was the co-founder of bleem! and who I bought it from.

I currently have an offer of $100, so start your bidding there if you want the thing.

Secondly, I have a couple nice add-ons for the N64.

One, a CD64. The CD64 is a back-up device that plugs into the bottom of the N64 and lets you play games off of CDs. It also has a couple little sub-features built into the BIOS like a memory manager, hex editor, gameshark and so on.

I only have the system shown in the picture. No box, no manual, no AC adaptor (external power is not required for the CD64 since it can get power through the N64; some people have had problems with overheating when running it that way, but I never did even when playing for hours and hours straight), no COMMS adaptor (this is needed for backing up games or loading them from your PC through a parallel port rather than off of a CD), no memory carts and no PCD. Very bare bones, but it works fine and all of the above mentioned stuff (except for the box and manual, I suppose) can be bought separately anyway (from www.success-hk.com).

I'm asking $110 for the CD64 to start, but if you don't think it's worth that, just send me your offer.

Second, a Tristar64. This one lets you play Famicom, SNES and SuperFamicom (also NES if you have an adaptor) games through the N64. It comes with everything you get when you buy them new...which oddly enough means just a box. No manual and not even an AC adaptor (which *IS* needed since the Tristar plugs into the N64's cartridge port rather than the expansion port...however any Genesis-compatible AC plug will work and those are pretty easy to find).

I feel compelled to mention thaqt I was pretty disappointed with the Tristar's compatibility for SNES games. The makers (Success/UFO) state that something like 95% of games work, but that's either a lie, wishful thinking or I just had really bad luck. I never owned a lot of SNES games, but I'll say that all the first party games I had didn't work (or didn't work fully on the system), that includes Mario Kart, Mario All-Stars, Mario RPG, Zelda 3 and F-Zero. All the third party games I had worked fine. Maybe 1st party games had a special security chip or something, if so that rules out most of the very best games on the SNES. Anyway, let the buyer be aware. Famicom compatibility seems to be great.

Okay, that's it. Please send me your offers to opaopa@ucsc.edu

    Thanks for looking.

Good to see you back on the boards, where are you again? (EDIT: I'm a dumbass, your prices are in $ so you're in the US. Nevermind...)

Also interested in the Tristar/CD64... how much roughly were you looking for on the Tristar?

  5. I'll ship anywhare in the world since it's the buyer who pays for it. I'd estimate shipping to the U.K. to be around $5 for the bleemPod (insurance would be a couple bucks extra if you're the nervous type). Send me an e-mail if you're interested.

For the Tristar, I guess...$75. I really dunno. It's up to "the market," I suppose.

And yeah, I could work out trades. I'm not real heavily into games these days, in fgact I've sold all of my systems aside from my Dreamcast, N64 and Colecovision and there's not really anything I want for the second two systems and only a very small handful of games that I want for the DC (I can send you a specific list in a couple days). I might also be interested in a few Famicom games (off the top of my head Hoshi no Kirby, Highway Star, a pirate of SMB2 on cart, a few others, too, though). I'm also in need of an 80GB laptop hardrive (2.5", 9.5mm) and wouldn't mind picking up a 6 to 8GB one, too. That's all I can think of off hand, but I know you have some interesting stuff, ASSEMbler, so make an offer if you have something or other in mind.

  9. Sorry, Alchy, I stopped checking this thread a long time ago. I still have the Tristar (everything else sold), but it's in storage and I'm thinking I may just keep it for the time being anyway. I may decide to sell the rest of my whole N64 set-up at some point in future and if I do, I'll let you know first.

The Tristar64 does not output s-video and it also doesn't even pass through s-video from the N64 for when you're playing N64 games. However, I've reaserched the video encoder chip used in the Tristar and it should be possible to get s-video out of it, so at some point I'd like to mod for it and add in an s-video passthrough (and better shielding, too).
