[For Sale] Xerc2 (XE) - Redesigned for an easier install!

I was asked if i could build a Xerc2 as they were sold out everywhere.
In the end i just did a redesign of the sickmods Xerc2 (XE).
My Layout has a few little differences to the Original Design but is almost the same. The biggest difference are the solder pads,
they have a bigger distance between them for an easier install.
They are completely assembled, tested and preprogrammed. It's as easy as installing and using them!

    A kit consists of a Xerc2 and a necessary ir-Diode.
I would sell them for 15€ each! If youre interested in one (or more) drop me a PM!

Shipping to anywhere in the world would cost 3,50€. Inside Europe it's 2€.
I got a picture of an example install and the Xerc2 kit as i sell them.

I have one of these that I got from n64 freak and I can tell you that they are really the best design that I have seen so far for the Xerc 2! This board has a much smaller footprint then the others out there and that makes a huge difference to me. I like things to be compact and easy to use! Plus the solder pads same really durable and are not easy to burn off like previous boards. So if you are not really experienced at soldering it will be comfortable for you. To me there is no other choice!

But i don´t know what it is good for...

Is it equal to a X3 IR Kit???

Yes, the shematic is available online and yu can easily build one yourself.
But for all the people out there who don't want to spend hours of work just to build one or two of them i offer them completely assembled.

The X3ir is pretty much the same. But one of the features of the Xerc2 is the Built in Programmer.
you can change the keymap in about 30seconds without opening the xbox!
So you could say it's equal to a X3ir kit. But I don't know if the x3ir also has an LED fader built in.

    @davidthomas:
Thanks for youre feedback buddy! It's allways nice to have people who support me.
And thanks for testing the first Xerc2 for me by the way!

Yes, it would of course work with the x3 Control Panel. The Xerc2 can be installed under the board and doesn't have to be connected to the X3CP in any way.
You only have to set the IR LED to a spot that is visible to the ir light of the remote.
If the X3cp has a space for the ir-LED you can simply place it there and connect it to the Xerc2.
Noboby would see the difference. The Status light (including fader) can be soldered to the Red, Green Leds of the Front Panel or any other Led you may install for this special purpose.
If you like i can include a power button pcb (The small pcb in the front panel that has the LED's and buttons) that has Blue and Red Led's installed.
If you power the Xbox up it will light up blue and an error will still be red. I could include it for you for 2€ extra.

The X3 CP has a IR Lid in the left corner.
But i think the IR LED is too big to fit there....

    LED Fader? What is this?

Yes it is a little to big to fit in the same spot that the original X3 IR sensor is supposed to go in. That is a mini IR sensor that comes with the X3IR-kit. I have one of them also. But the official X3IRkit is very simple and does not have any options to it at al like the Xerc 2 does. The official kit is basicly just a on/off with the remote and that is it. The Xerc has a fader and you can hook the official DVD dongle to the Xerc to have a internal DVD dongle also. The Xerc 2 is far superior to the X2IR-kit. Trust me I have 6 consoles with the X3IR-kit right now and I am gonna replace them all with the Xerc 2.

I received my first Xerc2 from N64 freak a few days ago (thanks for the fast shipping buddy) and as David says this really is the smallest and neatest board available right now. It is only about 1" square so it is easy to tuck away under the motherboard with a double sided sticky pad.

Worth pointing out too is that although the board is nice and small, the solder pads are a good size so even beginners should find this pretty easy to install.

I will post some pics up when I have a neat install but I wired it up quickly to see how well it worked. In short, it does what the X3IR does and much more and is 1/2 the price. The main one being that it is so easy to reassign remote keys without ever having to open the box again.

Benny - the fader feature allows you to hook up the Xerc2 to the front led ring of your console. The ring fades gently in and out when the box is in standby. You can choose to either light the green or the red ring and that is dependent on choosing the appropriate solder point on the motherboard. Alternatively, you can hook up your own separate leds. You could mount these under the console so it gives of a nice subtle glow. From memory, v1.6 boxes will power up to 12 leds and all other models will power up to 2. I got that info from the sickmods site where this mod very first appeared.

David - I just took one of my X3CPs apart and although a snug fit, the IR sensor supplied does just fit. You have to cut the legs right back and then hook up with some thin multi-strand wire back to the Xerc2 board. Alternatively, there is room to mount it between the inner shielding and the lower side of the front panel.

Anyway - thanks for this great mod, N64. I really do appreciate your hard work. And I will take 12 more please for the rest of my X3CP consoles.

    Cheers, Mark

I checked today and the IR sensor just fit into the spot that it needs to go in the X3CP. I did not think it was gonna fit but it barely did and that was a bonus for me!

The spare pad is that the same as the original XERC for using the original DVD remote IR dongle internally wired? Thanks

@tehgazza: Yes the spare pad is thought to install the dvd remote internally using only one ir-reveiver. The diode is already installed so you simply need to connect the data line of the dvd kit to the solder pad. I would recommend to use the smaller IR-RECEIVER I supply with the xerc2. They are smaller and easier to install than the big original ones.
