    Hi,

Just wondering if the format hard drive option when recovering a kit would actually format any WD 2.5" HDD to FATX? It's a long shot, but saves the hassle of HDDHACKER.

    Cheers

Can confirm it works with Western Digital as I assumed through the HDDHACKR compatibility. Got a free 80GB Fujitsu HDD from work (not stolen, just was no longer in use) and it works too.

Hope this helps anyone who reads this thread :)

Another question, if I were to format a non 360 hard drive on a dev, would it work on a retail? Is there any risk of a ban?

    Thanks

Haven't tried it myself but I have bounced between using a legit retail 20gb on an XDK and then back to a retail before without a ban. Back before I managed to get a sidecar on my XeDK I used a green 05 launch team hdd between in and the 05 LT console and wasn't banned ever. Granted, this was like 6 years ago.

Yes, I would like to add when I say I bounced back, I did have to go through the reformat process before using it.

What do you mean bud? By non 360 drive I mean just a standard hard drive, that isn't manufactured for xbox 360. If I formatted that on an XDK then put it on a retail, would it read it?

Can you not just put a non 360 hard drive on a retail and format it? I heard about 3rd party stuff or modifying stuff like that puts you at risk of a ban?

    Thanks

And for the sake of argument, if you take an official retail HDD and connect + format it with the XDK, you won't be able to use it on the retail kit anymore (not without going into the hddhackr route at least)
