This is Formula 1 '99 beta 1.0 dated August 12th 1999. I'm not familiar with this game so I don't know if there are any differences to the final build besides the most obvious ones. The loading screen is slightly different on this version, only two languages are available instead of four and the title screen states that it's a work in progress.

This one does not work on emulators, or at least I haven't found a working configuration. However it does work on a real PSOne.

Image is in clonecd format because it uses libcrypt protection.

I loaded the files into epsxe and had no issues having it boot. Loaded into PCSXr and didn't have an issue booting it either. Both crashed on the first loading screen however.

Edit - After trying to burn the contents to a disc (I think I'm up to 15 now. Thank god there's CD-RW) I've found that I can't actually make a fully readable copy. I'm still trying but so far I haven't been able to boot past the loading screen on PS3 or emulator. Haven't tried my PS1 yet but I doubt it would make a difference for the moment.

Edit 2 - After trying various means to get this running on hardware I can't. Tried my debug ps1 as well and it wouldnt display any image output after passing through the boot screen (the old ps1 sounds we all love). This is probably due to it being NTSC-J coded for my unit and the game being a PAL region.
I have also found no way to get past the loading screen with the 5 red lights on my ps3 or emulators. Maybe someone else has a solution?

Regardless thanks for sharing the build!

Hi. Sorry, I don't have a PS3 to test it myself. I assume you've burned the image using clonecd, it won't work using another burning program because of the libcrypt protection.
I also tried different emulators beside epsxe, like pSX or No$psx but none of them worked. The only way I've found to play the game is using my retail PAL PSOne.
You can try using the swap method on your debug unit. Turn it on without any disc inserted. Then, go to the music player and insert an NTSC-J disc. You can play with the lid opened and the button pressed to make the console think it's closed. A spring or something small stuck with adhesive tape will do the trick. After the NTSC disc has been recognized, stop the CD and replace it by the F1 beta disc and exit the music player. I used this method to play imports and backups on my old SCPH-1002 before it stopped working.

Tried burning on Alcohol 120, imgburn, clonecd, and a variety of other burners I have (like 3 more) all with no success. The PS3 shouldn't have an issue as I've played PAL games on it before both PS1 and PS2
I may try the swap method (I'm pretty familiar with it) but I'm still concerned on the view output cutting off again. Usually I can just use a small tool to change the region code of games if I need an actual PS1 (which I did in fact try with this and changed successfully) but so far I guess this is the exception.

Tried a few burns and tried to rip it to my PS3 as an ISO file as well but during the process it hangs on 68% and just stops. I'll tinker with it more later in the week but I'll certainly try the disc swap method.
On a completely unrelated note, I like the BIOS menu on the debugger. Its pointer is a green pencil and that amusing to me.

Did you try it on a retail PAL PSOne?

Dont have one to try. Only NTSC-U and NTSC-J.

However Qob tested it on their PAL PS1 with success

I don't think that ripping it to an iso file would work because the subchannel data containing the libcrypt protection would be lost.

The only emulator which partially emulates the iso is pSX. You can at least get to the title screen and navigate the menus, but once you try to start a race the screen goes blank.
