I was hoping for a mention of Outrun, but they did have a Ford GT, and not a Ferrari (Forza 6 has Ferraris, right?). I was kinda surprised there wasn't a NFS reference in there, since the first one predates Ridge Racer. BTW I think F1 gets televised at like 2 am here in the US, except the race in Canada, that's live.
Arcade racing as a whole seems to have disappeared. I'm all for a sim, but a bit of each doesn't hurt.
Not only that, i miss creativity and simplicity. Seems like all racing games of today need real cars, tuning and so on. And i kinda agree Gran Turismo is one of the ones to blame about this.
It wasn't made by Microsoft anyway, it was published by them. Bizzare Creations made PGR, they also made Blur which then Activision published them. In the process of making the sequel to Blur, Activision pulled the plug. Main reason why I hate Activision in the first place. I agree, I don't always need photo realistic graphics and real world physics to enjoy a race. Sometimes I do want to turn a corner at 100+kmph.
How I thought it'd be is; if there's a circuit in the country, it should be televised. Then again, I wouldn't bother with Albert Park, it's a boring as fuck of a track.
Can't agree with that, it's a pretty good track especially compared to something like Yas Marina or Sochi.
I agree with Yas Marina - it is a nice looking track but boring to be on, but I've always found Albert Park boring.
But don't they own the franchise? I'd rather see another one of those than a Forza Horizon game. I stand corrected. I was going by US console releases (NFS came out on the 3DO before the PSX was released). Also I didn't know there was a US GP. F1 is less popular here than soccer is.
Correct in a sense, Horizon is done by Playground Games. It's like PGR but, freeroam when you think about it. Very fun though.
Many of the Bizarre Creations staff ended up at Playground games from what I remember being told by a friend in the industry who also worked on Horizons 2 as well as countless other racing games since the PlayStation days.
Again, Riiiiiiiidge Racer! has failed to pique my interest in driving games again. I still don't think Sega Rally 2 has been topped for outright driving fun, I was so disappointed by Sega Rally 3.
Excellent commercial! I saw a similar one on TV the other day for Forza 6 as well. I really like the fact that they pay tribute to their roots. Game looks incredible too!
