Hi, I was poking around Ebay and found 2 un-dumped Prototype games at auction. NBA Hangtime - Debug Beta Castlevania 64 - Debug Beta 0.2 It is a shame that these cartridges are not sold to people who can dump both games and upload it, instead anyone can have it and return to disappear from the face of earth.
I'm not knocking the seller - but you'd think they'd find the time to check if there were any differences, given that 'incomplete' or 'early' builds are FAR more desirable than a copy of the game that's identical to the final build. As always, I'd go into an auction like that assuming there aren't any differences.... yes, I know proto colectors don't always have the time to check things but... history suggests they're probably identical to the final build UNLESS it's noted in the auction. I don't think it's fair to say these things don't get dumped - again, history seems to suggest most do get dumped and released if they're worth dumping in the first place. Browse the boards, hang around, there are mountains of protos released every year by many very generous people.
No real mystery for Castlevania, the date on the cart is like one month before final. It's likely just the final since there's usually at the very least a one to two month period after development before the game is sold retail.
Whilst it's great you're sharing the links, they should be in the eBay thread in the marketplace, regardless of what they are. And then what? Find that you've wasted all that time to find it's retail and you have to list it as such? As you said, why would you do that? If the build matters to you, take it as lucky dip, or take it as the seller knows it's the same as retail and bid accordingly. As always, it's only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Of course, many sellers don't actually have the hardware any more, so can't test.
