Let me preface this by saying, im new here and im not a game collector. I enjoy the history of video games and reading about the obscure things some of you find. I recently found a ds game cartridge in the parking lot of the apartment complex I live at that seemed odd to me. It appears to be a Pokemon game cartridge but it has "keldeo distribution eng/fre" printed on it. It appears flawless but I don't own a ds to test it out. I was just wondering if anyone could give me a little background on it and whether or not it's worth holding on to. Thanks in advance for any response!
Oh wow, lucky find! Wonder who dropped it.... Sounds like a card for one of those distribution events, where you bring your DS and they wirelessly give you a legendary Pokemon. Looks like Keldeo was at Gamestops in America, and at Game & Gamestation in Europe. Right now it would probably be...$30ish on eBay? Older not-for-resale stuff like N64 kiosk demos are a bit higher, like $50-100.
eng/fre sounds like English and French language, so maybe it's Canada version? I do know Canada gets dual language version and sometimes different label to reflect that compared to USA version.
Ahh neat! That is what I figured it was but, like I said, not a collector. I'll see if maybe I can post a pic a little later and maybe that would give you guys a little more to work with. Thanks for the quick responses!
If you need someone to test it out I have both a DS Lite and a 3DS. I live in Texas and have a good reputation here. I hate those who steal shit...
Thanks but my nephew has a ds. I'll try it on there. I was browsing online and I found an eBay listing that has a pic of the exact same cartridge. According to the listing it was an in store distribution event and the pic on the listing is identical to the one I found.
Well, at least someone who found it that's not collector is doing the right thing by not ignoring it.
It's a character distribution cart that was in GameStop from August to October last year. You need Pokemon Black or White to receive the character (plus a few other requirements). Whether it'll work in a stock DS or needs a Download Station, I'm not sure... but I'd assume you'd need a console to transmit and another with your Pokemon Black or White to receive the game, at least. It might even be time locked (27 August - 6 October 2012), in which case you'd have to set the date on both consoles accordingly. Hmm, first a King found in a car park, now a limited Pokemon! What next?
Again thanks for all the responses! I honestly thought when I posted this it was going to be like most Internet forums with a bunch of jerks. But, you guys have a great community here! Now I gotta figure out what to do with this so it doesn't end up in my junk drawer. I think I'm gonna see if I can find a local collector. Someone who will appreciate it more than me
Stay here for a while, and sell it to a proper collector, not some store that will give under what it's worth.
Or eBay it but bear in mind eBay and Paypal will take around 10% of total payment, and they will always believe buyer's side so if they claim you sent empty package or sent a counterfeit game, they get the money back and you get the shaft. I avoid using eBay for anything high value.
Oooo sounds like a well good find! Wish wi could find cool rare stuff in the car park! I'm one of those people who thinks they have found money on a car park and go to pick it up and find its glued to the floor, then hear the laughter of everyone in the carpark! Should get a cheeky picture up!
You can't sell here yet - check the marketplace rules. Once you've been here a few months (can't remember if it's 3 or 6) and made 50 quality posts, you can use the marketplace. If someone wanted to talk to you in private, though, then I guess that's on their head Do feel free to take part in other conversations here too, of course!
Oops! My bad, I honestly didn't even see the rules. I adjusted the post to fit the rules. Thanks for the heads up
