I started going through my rubbermaid tubs of gaming cords, controllers and the like. Decided to get it organized and sorted out my company, then system. Middle in the cleanup, I came across this cable still stapled in its original plastic baggy. It is about 2.5-3 ft in length. It fits the Genesis, but the other end is what it is. lol. I asked locally, but no one gave me a solid answer. If anyone knows what this cable is, or could be used for I would greatly appreciate it! -Endorphines
I doubt this is for a genesis. Alot of equipment used a stereo jack for RS323 communication/programming. You wouldn't happen to have TI graphing calc laying around?
No, the only TI I have is a BA II Plus. I'm sure it doesn't exactly go to the Genesis, it was just in with a bunch of my audio/video cables and adapters. The Genesis was first thing that came to mind when I seen it for obvious reasons. I also do not know what it could be used for or came with, ha ha. I buy a bunch of random cables from Goodwill and the like when I see them laying on the shelves never knowing when I will need it. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, I am in process of setting up my Model 1 Gen for stereo sound and this forum was on the brain.
MSX to Sony Walkman. Specifically, to record those schweet game soundtracks. I'm >9000% positive. Nah, seriously though, as citrus mentioned, a lot of equipment used that jack (most commonly termed the "Atari 2600 joystick connector" but it's not only for joysticks), and a metric crapton more than that uses the 3.5mm audio jack. I'd say, unless you come across a manual - or maybe the two pieces of equipment plus divine enlightenment about how they would go together - your chances of finding out what that cable was meant for are unfortunately very, very slim. However, if you look for generic RS232-to-3-5mm cables (eg on AliExpress, eBay), you get a) lots of results and b) lots of possible applications, one of which might line up with some of the equipment you have kicking around...?.
TiVo boxes can also use 3.5mm to serial connectors like this. It could be for a variety of things, though.
Still havent found any equipment it could be used for ha ha, thanks for all the input guys. I guess I'll keep it in one of my Audio/Video drawers.
