I'm after a couple of Orange Gamecube consoles, preferably unmodified. That is all :smile-new:.

I'm sure you know this and are just putting UK for location but the spice orange is Japan exclusive/NTSC-J of course and will only work on North American and Japanese TV's unless you have a converter. Obviously the spice orange controllers were sold elsewhere though.

Actually, the spice orange controllers were only sold in Japan as well.

If this is real it doesn't look Japanese to me...

Ntsc consoles work just fine on pretty much any UK TV. No converter required.

The spice controllers were released in the US but the console wasn't.

OP - I am still hoping to get a bundle of Spice consoles at some point soon so I will give you a shout if and when I do.

They were sold here too. A few people I knew back in the day of the cube had them. We got them sold in boxes though.

Yeah, only the console was Japan-exclusive oddly enough.

I have one of those spice orange controllers myself.

Orange Spice controllers were sold in the US in the same manner that Lum posted them, and I believe all UK controllers were sold in boxes--but the Orange Spice controller was supposed to be available there too.

The console, however, was a Japanese exclusive. Which is a shame, because the orange controller is a favorite and I'd love for a matching NTSC console. Looks like I'll need to gut an actual NTSC console or just get a region-switch installed on a NTSC-J one.

Yep, best colour IMO. Might be a proto NTSC though that turns up one day. You never know.

Might be worth adding in MODERN TVs. I bought my Japanese Gamecube shortly after launch and whilst it has worked on all TVs I've tried, a good few CRTs from that age (especially some cheaper supermarket ones) only displayed in black and white. Stupidly, I put 50 quid into an NTSC -> PAL converter back then rather than investing it in a decent TV ;)

    Japan IS NTSC...?

True, y'all. Modern PAL TVs, and by modern I mean my old 2005 PAL set, detect and accept NTSC input, flawlessly. Full colour, no problemos:wink-new:

RGB or Component will fix that. If the screen isnt rolling, its working with 60hz fine and RGB and component do not use "NTSC" or "PAL" colour encoding - so my point still stands :)

    Australian PAL Spice GameCube?

You're saying that Spice Orange GameCubes were sold in Australia? As PAL consoles?

Crazy. Never heard of that before, and it seems that neither has the internet.

Do you have any sources or pictures or something of an Australian PAL Spice GameCube?

Yep, just the controllers. I remember having one when the GC was out, I thought it looked really cool! Little did I know it was suppose to go with a console that we never got! And no I own one of them!

The thread is almost 2 years old; I no longer need Gamecubes of any description.
