Fourth Generation Iphone found in bar...and Apple want it back!

    Someone was too stupid to pop the sim out to prevent them from bricking it, and yes, someone was probably fired from a very nice job for being a putz

    This is beyond stupid. How can the guy be stupid enough to lose the prototype. I bet Steve Jobs exploded when he heard about it. The normal iphone announcement isn't till mid June usually.

    I agree subbie its a wonder they haven't realised before with past leaks (every other iphone) but I suppose they have to do some remote testing.

    Funniest thing is we have had this model in a picture since the ipad leak the night before the announcement and no one thought anything about it.

    If anything, the "leak" is probably viral marketing sponsored by Apple...

    After reading the latest piece on Gizmodo and wanting to vomit, there's no doubt Apple did this on purpose.

    Next story will be about Apple sparing his life and giving him a promotion, to show what nice guys they are.

    Apple have to test the hardware out in the field. Previously they've let about 200 of each model out into the wild for use in real environments, which does include bars.

    However, Gizmodo's story about having this for the last week or so is all very fuzzy. Plus, there's no photos of the internals or the 'Connect to iTunes' screen. I would imagine that's because Gizmodo are trying to string this out for as long as they can to get the most hits possible and we'll be seeing more pictures over this next week. Although if Apple did want this back, they'd have taken it off Gizmodo at some point this past week, before all this even came to surface; and that's what's really puzzling me.

    This phone does seem to have everything that people have been asking for: higher res screen, front camera, higher res rear camera with flash, seperate side buttons, etc. It's just that there certain aspects of the design that seem to scream that this isn't real.

    Whatever the case, my current iPhone 3G is over 18months old and I'll be getting this year's model on release.

    LOL a failing device? In what way is the iPhone possibly a failing device?

    While i wouldn't expect them to do that i think if this was a marketing exercise it would of only been to give people an expectation that the devices look is changing and that they get less of a backlash later on.

    However that said it could also be apple releasing a prototype so that on announcement day they can announce something unexpected i.e. a new look but different to the prototype.

    I just feel it might be abit of a loss if they did this on purpose and then come announcement day they had nothing new to add and it was all as expected. Either way i dont believe they would of left it in a bar on purpose its just abit too dangerous.

    I like it and I want it.

    Does seem a bit suspect though. If I were an Apple employee taking this thing to a bar I just wouldn't forget it. Whatever your take on Apple and iPhone is, you just wouldn't leave it behind, it's a pretty significant piece of hardware.

    Best publicity stunt ever. This is going to cause a buzz until the official announcement on or before June 22nd. Apple has well and truly slapped Palm and Android, and it really hasn't cost them a penny.

    I love how Gizmodo are calling the idea of it being a controlled leak 'limp thinking'.

    I think that the fact that the public isn't stupid enough to buy their cover story is making them limp.
