'Fox Ranger' released in 1992 by Korean developer, Soft Action for DOS had a plain but interesting looking 'version 0.5' in 1991 and apparently an unreleased level editor. Does anyone know of or have information pertaining to the prototype version(s) seen here? or have they been lost to the sands of time? www.hardcoregaming101.net/korea/specials/special-lost.htm#magic The magazines the information was gathered from aren't easily acquirable and not much else is known, but what do you expect from something so obscure? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Do you mean Fox Ranger 3? The second game was released in 1993. Some info about the FR3 beta is on the bottom of this page: www.hardcoregaming101.net/korea/specials/special-lost2.htm
That sounds about right, are you sure that is the correct release date though? I've found a demo all the way from 1994 but it's very unstable and doesn't seem to work beyond the intro cut-scene in Dosbox, thus I can't tell if there is any playable content or not. Here is a link: http://www.mediafire.com/?i60akq9hxlwi7xr EDIT: I got it running in Dosbox GL, nothing too special it appears to just be a rolling demo.
Thanks. It looks like the game needs to be tinkered around with to get it working as it keeps saying that the CD wasn't found. The Windows installer is useless and the NFO is somewhat cryptic. However, interesting to note are the files including executables, most of which seem to be dated over a year before the retail release. According to this page, Fox Ranger 3 was released in September 1997. http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/korea/part1/company-softaction.htm#foxranger3
