Faster perhaps but not as cheap. Most people have some kind of USB drive lying around. I've ran lots of games from USB drive and loading times are only a little bit longer. FMV suffers but that's not such a big deal.
He said he was trying to win an auction for a Network adapter which I assume he's going to use for the IDE interface set up. But if he owns the discs then, yeah whatever.
I've found that burning the game as an .iso changes the region of it, I can play NTSC games on my PAL TV, and my TV isn't auto switching!! You could try Boot Manager.elf or GSM.elf if that doesn't work!!
The main motivation for this setup is for IIDX and Drummaina though and I doubt USB would be lag free enough for the video and audio to sync correctly. Anywho, now have the required items won on ebay having spent a total of about £30 (120GB Maxtor HDD £7.50, Network Adapter £17 and game for £1.50). Give it a few days and I'm ready to roll. It's a shame the presumtion is that this is for pirate games rather than ease of use.
This is proving more trouble than I thought it would. Have created the modded files and burnt the ISO to swap but 2 disks gone and no success. Am wondering if the media is nto good enough (Memorex DVD-R) and now burning one at 2x speed to see if that helps. 4 hours gone... getting close to asking if anyone would like to help me out and copy freemcboot onto my memory card????
Thanks for the offer and if other attempts fail I will take you up on it although I wonder how long it will take in postage...... Any tips on getting it working? I am following the tutorial posted previously in the thread and each time it fails when I swap. I just get a black screen and can see the motor moving and the disk spinning a top speed (I have removed the top cover to make the swap easy). Anyone else done the Agent Under Fire mehthod?
I use Swap Magic 3.6 so have never tryed that way! You've got all the files needed and in the right order on your "Swap" disc??
I followed this http://freemcboot.psx-scene.com/ps2 ohje/3e.html exactly but so far have 3 coasters. Might have to track down a swap magic disk to make things easierbut last time I looked didn't find much from any trustworthy source.
Okay, try linker4u.com, I swear by them! If all else fails then send me a PM and I'll gladly do an install for you!
I don't know how but I completely missed your previous post.... :banghead: PM you after dinner to confirm. Cheers fella!
