This one is rather old, but still very good. I think it has been discussed here a while ago either.

 

might have been but it's quite concise and I loves it.

But it totally leaves out the cute em up sub genre

 

Most likely because its just a stylistic subgenre and not one that changes gameplay aspects like the other mentioned genres do (classic / danmaku shooters).

The most interesting thing about this documentary was definitely the footage from SWY and Ikeda.

 

Maybe I'll do a blog about cute em ups later today.

 

Does anyone know if that gba danmaku shooter created by Masakatsu Tomii was ever released to the public? It briefly shows him playing it on a pc in the vid.
