Hey, im not sure i've put this in the right topic, but..

I recently got my framemeister, and im not sure ive fried the actually framemeister or just the adapter. Clever as i was i didn't use a stepdownconverter, but plugged it on EU 240 V output with a regular EU > US converter.

So my question is, is the framemister no where to be saved? or is it the framemeister adapter that got fried ? T_T

most likely just the PSU fried , your only option atm is to get a 240v one and try to power the framemeister again

don't you mean a new 100v psu as that's what the framemeister uses ?

^ the framemeister needs 5v . The bundled PSU converts 100v -> 5v (and it's a CRAPPY decision they didn't add a universal psu that works with 100~240v).
So all you need to test now is a 240v psu that delivers 5v and has a plug that fits the framemeister.

Make sure the polarity is the same.

And buy an adaptor that meets all the safety requirement (CE markings and what not) cheap Chinese PSU's on eBay tend to burn up. Had this happen once, lucky the noise woke me up (it was next to my bed)

I find it most annoying that there are filtering components missing...

It will be fine, the PSU will have it's own 120v fuse, the Electricity never even made it to the transformer coils..
quick and dirty test, splice the cable into a usb cable and power the unit off a 2amp usb charger or off a PC (depends on motherboard, my Gigabyte board has the USB ports rated at 2amps)

In regards to the cheap PSUs. They generally have dangerously small creepidge and clearance distances and sometimes don't use safe means between the HIGH and LOW sides on the Pcb..

I've just done the same thing like an idiot.

I was wondering if your Framemeister survived? My PSU popped and a small bit of smoke came from the PSU but nothing else. I opened up the Framemeister and it looked fine on the inside from what my inexperienced eyes could see.

I've ordered a PSU for it so hopefully all will be ok, I hope :(

Softiceallan isn't very active here. But he is here at the meet up I'm at. And he says that the framemeister worked fine still. Only the PSU fried :)

Well my replacement PSU arrived today from amazon, and the good news is my framemeister was fine. I'm so relieved as it would have been an expensive mistake if I had, had to buy a new framemeister.

I just need to now intergrate into my set up and get some profiles set up for my various systems :)
