Hello there folks! A friend has just arrived in Adachi and he stays nearby Nishi-Arai. He's going to stay there until Thursday. Now, he's kind enough to act as a middleman in order to get me some retro videogames! So I have a few questions to those know some shops in Adachi / Tokyo. He's traveling along a native Japanese, so the language barrier won't be any issue. However, neither of them is familiar with videogames and such stores, so I'm seeking out some help to locate them. I've read quite a few threads for shops in Tokyo, but I've read that some of them are either closed or changed business. I'm looking for spare consoles, from famicom to dreamcast/ps2, and software from the sega cd to ps2 era. Some random items I'm looking for would be 32x, dreamcast, various hori controllers, more sought out games like nocture in the moonlight and rondo of blood to name a few. I do realize that they won't be dirty cheap as they used and dream to be, but still would be cheaper than ebay and so on. I know that Tokyo's is the holy place for games, however I'm not aware if there are any shops Adachi. Are there any people around familiar with the area and it's shops? If yes are there any recommendations? As for Tokyo. Some people say that Akihabara isn't the big thing in used gaming and more and are other options. Do you have any suggestions on used retro videogame stores? For example, does super potato worth's a visit or is it consider to be a tourist trap nowadays? Much obliged for your time!
Well, the first place to look would be Hard Off. However, you should be aware that most junk shops have caught on to the high price of games on Ebay, and most places I have gone to now charge Ebay or higher prices (this is true at least in Kumamoto, where I usually stay when I am in Japan). You should be really specific about the kinds of things you want, because most desirable things are not cheaper than Ebay (eg last time I was in a Hard Off, I saw a cart-only Super Back to the Future II cart for 8000 yen).
Much obliged for your reply badinsults - By the way I love your website Well he went to quite a few stores in Tokyo, both chains and smaller retailers. Unfortunately I didn't find anything interesting nor affordable so far. 6000 yen for used spare MD1 and 4000 yen for used spare dreamcast's is way beyond my expectations. I can get far better deals from forums and auction websites, shipping including. I'm afraid the dreamdays of getting sweet deals and bargains are somehow non existed nowadays around Tokyo..
