i have a 60gb ps3 that i refused to update because i paid for linux functionality and sony can go to hell for trying to take it from me. this last weekend i left my ps3 with a friend. i didn't think to tell him not to play online and he now installed all of sony's shitty updates. as far as i'm concerned the console is fucking useless now. although totally meaningless in the grand scheme of things, i felt really good every time i turned on the console and refused the update. this really ruins my day. i can't afford another ps3 and besides, this one has a lot of sentimental value. anyone else have a similar story?
Friend hit my brother's Top Gear Overdrive cart with a pillow when it was in the N64 while plugged into a GameShark. Snapped the contacts nicely. Neither he nor his mom offered to pay for it that I can recall but we never did hang out with him again.
a friend stepped on a genuine gamecube controller I had and broke the analog stick about 2 weeks after the gamecube was released .. and i'd bought it on release date.
My gf did the same thing, in the beginning I was pissed but in the long run I really don't care as linux on ps3 was too slow to really enjoy anyway. If you really want linux back you should look at those psjailbreak thingy's.
dumbass kid erased all of my goldeneye nintendo 64 files. I was at 007 ranking with all the cheats unlocked and everything. Month later I achieved all of those cheats, etc., again.
not directly electronics...but a freind of mine has the great Idea to try if the controller lights on the 360 turn while the console is turned on....GTA IV was in the drive.... AND!!! the SAME friend fell over a cable of my 360 while it was turned on and a COD 5 Promotional Copy was in the drive..... took me about 3 months to get a new copy, paid by him
When I was younger my master system was trashed by my cousin when he put an NES AC adapter in it.... it dieded
yeah, he sent my PSP down to the abyss of South China Sea. fml. And he told me its fated and godwill. OH:
I hit the SNES with a pillow or ball or something while my brother way playing FFIII(VI). It reset AND erased his save. I got the SHIT beaten out of me at probably age 8 or 9 or something. And then there was that time I formatted my memory card because I read メモリ カード after booting my first import and thought, "Oh, sure. I'll make a new game save." So I guess nobody else has ever screwed up my stuff. I never had my own stuff, and never had friends over at my house. Then when I finally got my own consoles and games I didn't WANT anyone to come over and play them. And I'm the youngest in my entire family's generation so there never were any kids to screw everything up.
i was 6 years old and i would pull on the controller and my genesis would fall off the furniture to the floor 4 feet down, onto tyle..... it survived! muahahahaha. edit: until my brother sold it to buy weed :"(
iirc i actually broke one of my ffix disks because a friend stepped on my ps1 mid-fmv (and i hadn't saved for hours). probably for the best though, i really can't stand the character designs.
I've never broken anything of anyone else because I'm really careful. A few people have broken my stuff and normally they've just payed for it or given me theres which was fine by me.
Well, I remember a kid from my school (wouldn't call him "friend"), came over a couple of times to my house to play FIFA 98' (PAL import) on my N64 and when I won the match he thrusted the controller he was using to the ground almost breaking it. He then did it again, but I remember that the second time my dad was just passing by and saw it and man, he shouted the hell out of my schoolmate, the kid was so scared I believe he never even came back to play more FIFA matches lol.
Not hardware but whenever I used to loan my games out to my friends they would always trash the instructions. Pissed me off to no end because I OCD over that kind of stuff to the point that I'd rather have them trash the disk since finding used instructions in good condition is damn near impossible. BTW: For me to loan out something now pretty much requires your first born as collateral.
I guess you could say I unintentionally broke one of my friend's electronics. When I built my first computer I was an idiot and put the connector for the cases USB ports upside down. A friend of mine came over and he went downstairs to copy some stuff to my computer I had him backup from my old one using his dads external hard drive. Now this was back when these were pretty new for the small sized external drives. It was like $300 for a 40GB. Well naturally it fried the drive as soon as he plugged it in. Luckily he comes from a rich family and his dad wasn't too upset. <_<
My friend got a Dreamcast imported from Japan when it was released. He got two days use before plugging it into 240v.
my friend cracked the corner of my debug playstation. then another friend also swapped his broken GC controller with mine.
Not directly electronics, but a friend of my friend made a joint filter out of his dracula x spine card.
