    yes, there are few yahoo sellers that do that. Pisses me off really. they probably sell the game, keep the spine then sell that to make more money :DOH:

    well, truth is: in japan most used game stores buy software from their customers for resale purpose but ALWAYS throw away any goodies which might come with these games (cards, stickers, spine). a shocking truth. i talked to the owner of a bigger used game store chain in the kanto region and he confirmed this. the reason for that? he said: "customers buy the games for playing only, the spine would make no differences. people which go after additional extras would buy the game new anyway." :banghead:

    totally sick imho!

    so someone might be glad there are some sellers of spinecards out there! :nod:

    Well, I'm glad that practice isn't in force in this area of Japan. I'm not surprised that it is in practice in the Kanto area though. I always thought of Kanto as the rude, dirty dump of Japan :)

    I'm really surprised to read this. Every game shop I have seen had copies w/spine cards that were more expensive than those without, there were actually much less games without spines and I have seen loads of customers who ignored all the incomplete games. I can't imagine that game shops throw them away intentionally to be honest, they were lowering their item's values.

    @yakumo
    Considering most of the spine-cards on yahoo are nowhere near being overpriced I don't seem to understand your complain. There are (or were, at least) spines for very rare games such as the Playboy Karaoke Discs, TF Gold Packs, Gals Panic ect. and all for just 500yen. Buy a spineless Playboy Karaoke disc for 4000 instead of 7000jpy and get a 500yen spine for it. I did that for my spine-less (lol...) Gals Panic SS and the seller even put an extra 5 spine-cards of even not so very common games in it.

    ...What!? Japan is (slap me if I'm wrong) THE country that keeps their boxes and pamphlets and books and everything. Here in the states, boxes from ANY cartridge game are basically already decomposed in the ground. The only reason people seem to keep their disc cases is to keep their games from getting damaged (and even then, the tops of consoles have become the standard storage spot for discs it seems). Of course, I'm making a big generalization about gamers here who are, generally, preordering the latest Madden game.
    I'd assume the difference in price a game with a spine card and without would be much greater than the cost of a spine card alone.
    Why would every almost every JP ebay auction, every play-asia item, etc, let you know when a game is missing the spine card? I realize though, that if someone from, say, here in the USA is buying a Japanese game straight from Japan, there is a very good chance they actually care (or at least are motivated more) if it's complete enough to have a spine card.

    I don't know.

    exactly. but also in Japan 90%+ of the gamers are casual gamers. they bring their used titles to the next game store and pick up another title of interest. but they just wanna PLAY the obtained game, not collect it. it's about the gaming experience and not about holding the game for years on one's shelves at home in great/complete condition.

    they dont care about spine or other stuff. so for me it makes perfect sense that many shopowners in jp tell their staff to either trash all "additional" items or keep them for their private purpose.

    just my thoughts..
