FS (Canada): Macbook Pro 13" 2010 with upgrades.

Looking to upgrade, so I'm selling my laptop.
It's a 2010 model, 13" with a bundle of worthwhile upgrades. I'm doing a cash only deal, because I'm aiming to grab myself a 17" Pro w/ antiglare for school work

Specs (including upgrades)
C2D @ 2.4GHz
GT320m 256MB gfx
750GB 7200RPM hard drive (upgraded from 250GB @ 5400RPM)
8GB DDR3 (upgraded from 2GB DDR3)

Condition- dent on one corner of the screen, bottom plate a little scratched, and some marks on the top lid. Otherwise, in great shape. Topcase was just replaced. PLUS- I'm getting laboratory quality metal polish that has a high chance of success to get rid of the scratches- I'll do that ASAP and update this to let you know if it worked.
Included- Macbook Pro, charger.

Price- $900 or best offer.
Pictures- I can't seem to get a good shot of the damage in my light... Arg they're misleading (a bit) so please PM me if you'd like close ups of the damaged areas. It really isn't that bad though, so unless you're OCD it shouldn't matter much. It's just accidental damage from everyday (school) use.

OK sneaky. You've just activated my "why I hate the retina" mode.

Here are my reasons

-Too thin for a 15" laptop, not enough substance
-The graphics processor onboard (HD 4000) is incapable of running the retina display and OS X's various graphical effects
-The GT650m is also a crappy card- basically a budget mobile card. Good luck doing any multimedia work at 2880x1800...
-NOTHING IS UPGADABLE!--
--CPU/GPU is soldered (Of course)
--SSD drive is proprietary (controller/daughtercard is built into the drive, not on the motherboard
--ram is directly soldered
--No DVD drive (and while I don't use it too often, it gives the option of a second HDD)
--battery is GLUED IN- good luck self replacing that shit. Not even 3rd party technicians can do it!
-IT'S FUCKING EXPENSIVE (and even more so with all the reasons for why it's terrible)
-Want to know how to set the screen resolution? There's SET BUTTONS. Like "Perfect for Retina" and "large text". What the actual fuck, I'm not a 6 year old.

So, my reasons for why I'm not getting a retina. I tried one out in the Apple store and nearly got kicked out for listing off reasons why I hated it. It's also why I'm still running 10.6 on my desktop (can't believe the laptop's got 10.7)- Mountain Lion is so user friendly it's reached the point where Apple believes all their users have the brains of retarded gnats.

 

That's why Apple suck.

Come to the bright side, choose Windows.

WHO NEEDS THAT RESOLUTION ANYWAYS?
And I legitimately mean "NEED". There's very few people who are able to make use of all the pixels. Everyone else are hipsters in a coffee store who turn it down to 1920x1080 and browse the web.

Also- I dual boot my computers. I'm planning on installing a 3TB drive into my iMac along with a boot SSD, so I'll have more than enough space to fit a large Windows partition. My current one is a mere 60GB

I don't know, I kind of like my retina. I didn't pay or it my job did so that might be part of it.

 

Well let's not get carried away here- I'm a Mac user (for the most part) and I've never sat in a Starbucks with a Mac. Never.
Well, there was this one time I was buying a PowerMac G5- that was the most awkward computer to have in a Starbucks.

I'm sure the retina's would be nice, but they're appealing to the user who doesn't have to pay for it and doesn't really do upgrades to their computers anyways.

I have nothing against hipsters, I just don't personally like it. I consider it a huge waste of time and money. Why do they care so much about being different?

You can get the same resoultion with HD LED LCD.

Had it listed locally, and had someone who was selling his 17" antiglare. I got lucky-
-Sold 13" at Timmies, went back home
-grabbed $50 bucks, walked back to Timmies and bought 17"

All within 15 minutes!

 

You meant linux right? It's infinitely flexible and it even now got some nice graphical stuff mothers like, just like mac! And did I said it was FREE?

Also I got a 5 years old dell 15.4" laptop with 1200p display, and people keep complaining everything is too small for them, so I don't see the point of a retina display. Yeah I could make my fonts bigger and zoom in webpages, but even then, I have to put my nose on the screen, cross eyes and focus as closse as possible to notice pixels enought to be annnoyed, I really don't see the point of 1800p, unless it's on a 40" screen.

Also check the $1800 macbook (non-retina), you can get a slightly better linus/m$ laptop for 1050$, OSX isn't worth 750$ in my mind.
