Howdy! Time to unload some of my dev equipment I used to develop for a published game for Hasbro Interactive. The first of the bunch is a complete Dreamcast dev system with all the extremely hard to find accessories needed to get up and devving. This is a complete turn-key setup to be covetted by a coder or a collector. I made sure to grab as much as I could to complete a full development environment plus one spare box in case I need parts. These boxes were fully functioning when they were scrapped in 2002 and have been unused in dry storage since. This system was a dream to develop on, we had a great time porting to this console and nothing but headaches with the PSX and XBox. I am asking $1000US for everything below and it is yours immediately, but to be fair I will also be accepting silent bids for the package and if it has no immediate buyer I will accept the top bid over $700. Bidding will end at midnight EST Friday, July 22. If there's still no buyer I'm going to Ebay the lot, just wanted to keep it in the open development community of Assembler Games because I totally dig what you people are keeping alive. Here's what the package includes:

-2 Katana HKT-0100 boxes and power cords. (1 box pristine, the other is fully functional but has a bad GD-ROM door-closed switch that needs to be soldered together to fool the machine into thinking the door is actually closed)
    -1 GD-ROM writer box HTK-004
-original Dreamcast SDK Release 9 disc (the most stable release for DC Devving)
-original Microsoft Windows CE Toolkit V2.0 for Dreamcast
-Adaptec AHA-2940UW SCSI card required for PC interface (try locating one of these)
-an almost full stack of Dreamcast GD-ROMs in their original case (46 of 50 remaining)
-2 production controllers with VMU units and 1 arcade-style 6-button controller

at the buyer's option the following is also included (if they want it), you just cover the extra shipping expense and it's yours (Pick and choose!):
-2 production Dreamcast units, one USA one Japanese
-1 Dreamcast-to-VGA breakout box, also switches to RCA outs
-30 pounds of original Sega Dreamcast manuals listed below:

New Style Dreamcast Manuals Release 7:

If the buyer chooses not to ship the docs I will sell them seperately for $50 plus shipping, so let me know if you are interested in them as well. Please email me your phone number with your bid and we'll discuss shipping and payment. This is a BIG package of dev equipment so please expect something around $80 or more in shipping charges, it will be exact shipping, not trying to pull an Ebay shipping scam on anyone. I will only accept PayPal for this awesome dev kit. I'll ship anywhere in the world, just consider the shipping charges from Washington, DC, zip code 20910. You can also feel free to pick it up here to save shipping if you are in the region. I hope this gets some good use!

Nice, one question, how do you differentiate between a Japanese & USA Dev unit. Does one say something like HTK-0100 & ther says something else?

    The devboxes are HKT-0120 , not HKT-0100.

Also they are not finalised Set5.24 units which now go for around 300$ in ebay.
So as long as i am concerned,1000$ is a lot of money for these....Especially if you think that they won't work with post-Release 6 or 7 (i cannot really remember,5.23 support was dropped from R7 i think) SDKs.

    peace

I found another piece of the Dreamcast development family today in storage and is now available to the buyer if they want it, the Apple Power Macintosh PowerPC 6500/225 that we used to develop sound for Centipede3D on. THe HTK-03 Sound Box connected to this machine but sadly I was unable to save one of these units when I acquired all this stuff. But, this funky Mac and all its accessories (even has a Mac-to-PC VGA adapter on it) is free in the package if you want it. Also, about the price, I'm really only asking for $700 for the complete package, the $1000 thing is the top-end for me to immediately halt the bidding and send it out. The stack of blank GD-ROMs alone will more than make up for the cost going by Ebay prices (4 blank discs going for $23.00 recently ->http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8201539036&category=62053&ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1 ).

Was the Sound Box another rare dreamcast hardware like the Dev Unit & the GD-Burner?

Dang! That's a "Must Have" for me! I've always been looking for hardware/software that might be able to decode .ADX files for the Dreamcast.

Likestoparty, do you have any pics of that Mac PC, or know where you can probably find a DC Sound Box?

unfortunately, no, we sent TONS of playstation and dreamcast hardware to the smelter and I could only pack so much into my VW Beetle (at one point I had 6 dev stations and 4 complete Playstation dev systems, too), I overlooked grabbing the sound boxes. We had three of them at our peak. But, actually I remember us only rarely using them, can't remember if it was an early prototype type of hardware or if its functions were superceded by improvements in the SDK or what. I'll get you some pictures of the Mac tonight after my camera charges up again.

I don't think the HTK-03 will help you decode those .ADX files you mentioned. I would do some research into the -03 before you dropped a pantload of money on one of those goofy things.

Smelter was only sort of a joke, we didn't exactly melt them down but we DID toss about 6 complete Dreamcast dev kits in the dumpster when we moved to a bigger facility to develop Magic: Online and we didn't need the dev kits any more. Sad day indeed!
