    If you have an import adaptor it shouldn't be too hard. Passport 3 plus is a good one. If you don't already have an adaptor then you'll need one.

    I was tempted by the paper mario too, considering the mad prices it goes for here, but I'm broke at the moment

    Like Steadster said, you'll need passport in order for it to work on PAL N64. I don't think a mod to the unit to take both PAL and NTSC carts will work because of the video output...

    Its not the video output its that there is a lockout chip. Cart must match region of console, or you're buggered. Thats also why the passport is more expensive than plain japanese-> US convertors, because it has some logic to get around the lockout. The japanese-> US convertors are nothing but pass throughs which mean you dont need to chop off the tabs. No circuitry whatsoever, just connects each pin to its corresponding pin
