They are the DAC used in the component cables. You can use them to build you own component cable (or fit into the console and add standard ports).

Is there a guide out there for doing the internal mod? I'd like to see if it's something I could do.

There is no guide as such, although this wiki provides most of the information needed on them: http://www.gc-forever.com/wiki/index.php?title=MXB012355

There is also a long thread on the gc-forever forums which had quite a bit more information on them.

Thanks. That seems out of my range though.

Component internal mod? I never thought of that... Might be something else to look into.

It's what I'd intended to do with them, but I've got too much on my plate to get round to them at the moment.

Hm... so if you were to use one of these to build a component cable, how would you obtain a digital port connector? I should think these can't be found except in a component cable. I guess, as you mention, an internal mod is an option.

I'm unsure to be honest. I know SDHC cards will work with it, but the largest I've tried is a 4GB.
