Good nick, good price, good luck :)

These are the better Test units to have. They 'tune' the laser pick-up using a calibrating motor attached to the DVDrom assembly. It finds the sweet spot and generally gets more life out of your laser, plus it's more accurate in reading discs that perhaps you'd not expect it to. They also weigh more than the retail PS2 because the case is thicker (marginally) and the shielding is way better.

They take a little longer to load though, so if anyone is buying it and unfamiliar with this model, don't panic. It doesn't mean the laser is on it's way out. It's just 'tuning' up!

I've used one of these with a Network Adapter and HDLoader. Never tried Linux on it though.

Curses. A JPN test unit ending in 0 is the only one that'll do it same as a retail unit it seems.

It should work with the linux kit without problem, even the dtl-h10000 does.
It won't work with the utility discs however (hdd utility and BBnav), the dtl-h3010x models do.
