    Hi guys,

Ive got for sale an older laptop, its served me well through the time ive had it, before i list the specs and put people off, please let me tell you what ive used it for, wireless web surfing in the house and in the garden, in particular on a good summers evening with a few pints! Of course you'd need a PCMCIA wifi card. Ive also used the laptop for playing MP3's, and word processing aswell, while being out and about.

I think the laptop would be ideal for some sort of debugging as it has a serial port on the port replicator, and could run windows 95 / 98 with a breeze.

Moving on, the laptop is quite old by todays standards, though its the size what sells it, it fits perfect in my coat pocket, so can be used for listening MP3's etc while on the move, and you can whip it out at any wifi hotspot / cafe.

The specs of the laptop are what let this down, though its a solid bit of kit, if memory serves me correctly i think i overclocked this model to 166mhz, its ran at this for a couple of years or so, and has never let me down, it runs fine all day every day! It only currently has 16mb of RAM, but has been enough for what ive used it for, and is currently running Windows 98 just fine. The RAM is upgradeable if you find the upgrade for it which does turn up from time to time. The HDD, is only 2.1GB at present, but of course can be upgraded! I found it had enough space for web browsing, and playing MP3's.

Basically what you get, is the laptop itself, the battery included appears to still be holding a good charge, though i don't know exactlly how long it lasts. Which is indeed a bonus, as most of the batterys on these don't tend to last too well. This also comes with the originall smaller port replicator, and the bigger port replicator, which in the day cost alot of money. The bigger port rep has ports for PS2 items, along with 2x PCMCIA slots (as the laptop only has 1 due to its size) even the port replicator is small, but ive never really had the need to use it. Also it obviously comes with the PSU, and comes with the floppy disk drive, the drivers for the floppy drive aren't currently installed and need re-installing, i lost them after a format! However the drive does work fine for booting from before windows, ie for a win95 / 98 boot disk.

Oh the laptop has 1 screw missing from the bottom, which ive never had, though its never been a problem.

Ive stood the plug and cup of tea in a couple of pictures just so you can get a good idea of the real size of this, it really is tiny. The smallest laptop i have ever seen!!

Sorry for going on so much, but i like to be honest and up-front about everything so people know what they are looking at.

    So onto some pics:

PS sorry for this blurry pic, it was difficult to get a good one.

The asking price is £60 + delivery, but as always make me an offer! I'm based in the UK. I would also trade for any xbox related development type equipment, or Nintendo 64 development type stuff, but would also consider retail, just shoot me a PM with what you got.

I have good references here, and over at X-S where i am staff some people may know me from over there. I also have great eBay feedback.

I can take payment via PayPal, or personal cheque.

Sorry again for such a long post, i just wanted to try and get everything in there.

    Cheers

Gaaah. it's so tiny.... BACK OFF!

Damn, why must I really be out of money now? Will you trade for any other stuff, non-dev stuff perhaps? Or a HP Jornada 720 with Linux and a few extras?

(if the above does not makes sense, worry not)

Well guys, feel free to make trade offers, i'd prefer development equipment, and would really consider any platform, i will also consider some retail equipment, just shoot me your offers via PM, if i see something i like then we can make a deal.

    Cheers for the responses anyway.

EDIT: just to make it clear so people know, i'm from the UK, so obviously the laptop has a 3pin plug and runs from 230/240v.

Not intrested in this laptop, but I can say it's a great laptop as I have the same model, overclocked to run at 166Mhz (http://www.fixup.net/tips/l70200.htm), you can even overclock it to run faster.

I'd be interested in seeing the PCMCIA Wifi card you mentioned as I've never seen a 16bit Wifi card (and 32bit ones don't fit).

I'm pretty sure the PSU is multivoltage anyway as I've a US machine and it worked fine in the UK. Although you can upgrade the HD to over 2Gb, you will need a overlay program to use any hard drive over 8gb (or you'll only get 8gb).

I assume you don't have the toshiba drivers for it, Windows doesn't have drivers for the Toshiba floppy, here are the drivers you require as the Toshiba UK website doesn't have them. Also as you say you've reinstalled windows, does the Hibernation mode still work?

Still 60 quid is a bargain, I paid a lot more for mine, although I did get a PCMCIA cd-rom drive and then I found the larger port replicator by chance in Sofmap and that cost me 30 quid, still allowed me to use a decent keyboard and mouse.

Hi Jamtex, nice to see you came in to have a say about the Libby, me the librettos go back a long way, i have the driver for it somewhere, i just don't currently know where my CD is with the drivers on. Though all the other drivers are installed, just the FDD one thats missing.

About the 8GB HDD limit, that is indeed true, but can easily be bypassed using a program called EZ-Bios or something along those lines, ive got a 40GB drive in a 110CT aswell, though to be honest the 70 always got more use, simply because its still a good bit smaller than the 100 / 110 as i'm sure you'll know.

Oh and with regards to the wireless card:

Before this, and i still have it somewhere, a wireless card and ISA card for the PC for a direct link between the two, anyone wana buy it? lol

I can assure anyone interested, this is a solid robust laptop, as small as it is, you'll find it will clock on for years to come if looked after, and they aren't so fragile like most would think.

If i were to have an honest guess of the clock speed i'm 99.9% sure its 166mhz, but if it becomes a need to know basis for a sale, i'll open it up and check for you, if you must have this speed, and it turns out its not running that already (sure it is) then i'll mod it to run that clock speed within the price, no trouble.

As Jamtex said, this is a good bargain at the price, i just want rid of it at the moment, let someone else enjoy this bit of kit.

Oh on the PSU issue, ive not checked to see if it'll do multi voltage, i'd guess actually it probably does, but can look at the PSU if someone wants to know.

    Cheers.

Due to a request, i have checked the PSU and the input voltage is 100-240, so basically it will work anywhere just fine, all you need is a basic figgure of 8 power lead, ie xbox 1 style power lead, and you'll be away.

    Cheers.

Thanks for that, now I'm off to find a cheap 16bit wifi card. Make sure you download and install the floppy driver before you send it off. ;)
