    Depends what you define as moding.

    Jpn & USA N64 are pretty much identical. What will keep this game from working is 2 plastic pieces in your N64. You can fix this problem 4 ways

    1. Buy some cart that extends above the n64 cart port (like a gameshark or a region unlock cart)

    2. Buy the proper drill bits and open your n64 to take out the plastic.
    3. Get a knife and start cutting from inside your n64 slot
    4. Break/open the cart it self so you can take out the game pcb (less recommended, but works when desperate).
