Mary Kate and Ashley do bring in quite an amount of money still.

Also, owning the rights, you can just go ahead and claim that all those games should be free and anyone selling them is violating your ownership rights and can sue them :).

but hey, having the rights for 100 bullets and a copy of the game? Damn, that would be sweet.

I doubt even EA would be jumping to buy any of these...

yeah I have to agree... from my understanding (and I could be wrong) since it is only the publishing rights to the individual game, you can't really do much with it other than re-release it.

If it was for certain franchises then maybe someone would pick a bunch up, such as the simpsons franchise or something. But most of the worthwhile ones are gone. EA already has the burnout franchise, so there is no need to buy the rights to 2 older games for it. Same situation with some of the other ones, mortal kombat, turok etc.

Would be an interesting bit of history if you could get one for really cheap, but there isn't much investment value to 99% of those unless you are going to make a compilation or port it to a mobile device. Even then, it's not a real smart move.

Any ideas what one of these would sell for (I know it depends on game obviously, but let's just say an average acclaim title), I have no experience with money amounts on publishing rights, but I can't imagine they'd be cheap even for a crap game. Although if no one else is taking them that'd be funny if you could get one for like $50, but realistically, no.

Is there a way to posibly buy the actual license and all its stuff out? If so what do you think something like Vexx would go for?

If the prices where not too far out there. I would not mind actualy buying up the vexx license to have an offical license to work on for side project.

remember it's the rights to publish that title on that format, not the series rights.

So if you get populous, you can only make it for snes. Not any other format.

so because of that, will the older ones be mainly bought for nostalgia or to say you own the rights to publish a game or whatever? No one will legitimately bust out games for a NES again...

and how cheap will these probably run?? I was a huge Double Dragons fan as a kid..

    :D

Last I heard, The Last Job was still being worked on by the guys at Manchester. At the very least, I know there's still lawsuits flying around over that and a few other titles that were in development.

Also, 100 bullets I wouldn't touch as I think there's still legal wranglings going on about that. (I don't imagine Acclaim actually paid in full for the license) Also, as it's still unfinished it's not publishable without another big investment.

There's a couple I'd like to own though, just for nostalgic reasons. Tell me if anyone buys XGRA!

I plan to get the rights to Revolution X for a bargain basement price.

    Game:"Whoa! Aerosmith's car!"
Me:"What? Aerosmith has a collective car that they all share and drive around in...like The Mystery Machine?"

    ASSEMbler,

    Any chance you know what happen to the collective of acclaims game rights? Like some of their least popular games like vexx? vbmenu_register("postmenu_103549", true);

Well titles like 100 bullets and juiced were supposed to be sold already.

Some of the titles are just concepts, they even list kung-faux.

The titles only let you make games on that format, so if you get rights for snes, you'd have to deal with nintendo to make more carts, and I have no idea who in their right mind would pay $50 for a game that is $0.25 in the used bin now.

Well I don't mean publishing rights like this is. I mean to own the license/code/assets/etc. I know not all of acclaim's licenses were bought out. So some bank somewhere has to be sitting on them.
