I have recently purchased the DESR-7000 which Festerfly (AG member) was selling off, so my DESR-5000 is no longer required. I don't need two of them.

In Festerfly's sales thread I mentioned that this machine may become available and I had one interested party who has asked me to hold the unit, but currently has no method of payment. As such I will keep this unit on hold until this particular member suggests a solution.

However, in accordance with AG rules here is a specific thread, with specific details, images and proof of ownership.

    Item: Sony DESR-5000, NTSC J, 110vac, PS1/PS2 unit with 160Gb HDD.

    Price: £125.00 plus P&P.

    UK / European sale.

I apologise for quality of images, but we are in the middle of a pretty major refit and fewer lights available!

Remote has slight yellowing, but the unit is white (hard to tell in image I know!) front pull down panel is included as is a Japanese plug.

P.S. if this doesn't sell I might be tempted to cannabilise it and find out whether the PSU swap out, laptop HDD would work, so no great shakes. Thinking more about the space it takes up than anything else.

Yes I noticed, too bad was considering it myself as you have set a good price for it!

Maybe there is a way to play games with those USB advanced cd / ext usb harddrive on these PSX's, did you or somebody else ever test this?

Not yet, but I certainly intend to investigate further. Time on any particular machine is limited to when I get it back out of storage (lock-up) and cart it home, work on it, then take it back hence sometimes there being delays in posting information & findings. I simply can't keep up with it lol.

My replacement DESR has turned up with a minor fault (nothing Festerfly would have spotted I suspect) and I may (possibly, maybe) require a couple of the parts from the lower spec DESR to get it running again, so for the time being this sale is suspended. Sorry! If however, in the near future I get both running smoothly then I'll place it back on sale.

    Sorry! ;-)

P.S. FF if you read this, it's a minor issue so no worries. You'd possibly not have spotted it and certainly doesn't affect general usage - still a happy bunny!

Not sure how you obtained your audio, but I tend to use optical and I am getting a shed load of residual noise from it. The L/R RCA analogue channels are perfectly fine, but the moment I try the optical it sounds badly distorted and contains a lot of noise. I've not had time to look at it, and as I say it would be something that perhaps (if you didn't use optical) you'd not notice.

Don't worry about it! ;-) I'll have to spend some time having a closer look, however I am right in the middle of re-doing the kitchen (remember I mentioned I might have to lol - predicting the reactions of the partner!)

Seriously it's okay, these things happen and as the L/R audio works perfectly well it's not a major issue, it would be nice to have optical though and I intend to try and repair it. If I have to take parts from one and fire them into the other then so be it, plus it would free up a DVD drive to help repair Limey's unit.

My first thought was 'Okay, so now I have a unit to experiment on re replacement PSU etc'.

I'm wondering if the guy that owned the 3 units bought them as factory seconds or something lol

However, don't fret - not your problem! ;-)

This item is now available again. Same as before! It was only pulled as I suspected I might require spare parts from it to repair another unit, however I didn't and therefore it's up for grabs at £125.00 plus P&P. I don't accept PayPal so some other payment method may be required.

If you are interested then please PM me asap.

Sorry, but PayPal refuse to accept my bank details. I am possibly going to change my bank account soon as it really is very frustrating for me too.

Can you wire up a freeview box to this thing via S-Video or something and use it like a regular PVR in the UK?
