I'm offering a TopView StudyPlay System. This is a rather unknown VideoCD player that comes with a cloned MegaDrive build-in. Some facts:
    - Video output: composite video
    - Audio output: stereo audio
    - You can select games with the included remote, no power cycling required to switch games
    - You can reset the game with the included remote control.
    - You can load games up to 32Mbit (4MByte) in size.
    - The games discs are a special format with a VCD menu on them. The menu is in Chinese, though you don't really need the menu. You can just enter the game number (1-90) on the remote and it will load one.
    - The interesting part is the original educational software that runs in MegaDrive mode. This software comes on three discs and requires the use of the keyboard and mouse.
    - It also plays audio discs and VideoCDs.
    - Although the remote has a button to switch between PAL and NTSC this only works when playing VideoCD content. When playing games the video output is always PAL. Please confirm your equipment can accept PAL signals before purchase.
    - The unit contains a switching power supply rated 85V..235V and has a US-type power connector.

    Included in this sale are:
    - Studyplay system
    - Two original controllers
    - Original remote control
    - Eight discs (CDR) with up to 90 games per disc. As with most bootleg compilations you get some repeats though I have not found repeats on the same disc. These discs were sold to me as "officially licensed" but somehow I doubt it. Some games have intro/trainers on them.
    - Original keyboard
    - Original mouse
    - Three discs (factory-pressed silver) containing the educational software. This software requires the use of the keyboard and mouse.
    - Original boxes and manuals.

    Condition:
The item is used but in good condition. I am the first owner of the device. The CD lid needs to be closed in a certain way in order to correctly secure the disc for loading. The unit is fully functional. Buyer will expect Chinese build quality.

Asking € 450 + shipping. Payment by banktransfer or PayPal. Shipping world-wide.

    Really nice and rare kit.

I think the megadrive board inside the VCD console is licensed by SEGA or even produced by SEGA.
But the game ROM disc usually filled with many more games that not allowed in the hardware tech license agreement.
Several Chinese VCD company have done this in late 90' in China.

There's nothing in there that suggests that at all. It'll be the same as all the other MD clone + disc units, i.e. unlicensed, and as the seller puts it, "expect Chinese build quality".

Hi. Recently I learned about the existence of VCD with support for Sega games. Discussion in the Russian forum:http://www.emu-land.net/forum/index.php/topic,72558.0/all.html#lastPost.
I began to actively seek information about such systems and came across your post. Then I found a patent for such VCD-MD: https://www.google.com/patents/CN1102288C?cl=en&hl=ru

I'm especially interested in the SegaMD card - it's made on the HAWK SSHK315-03 controller, which chip of 315-5969 or 315-6123 is used? It will be great if you can make good photos of the internal device of your VCD.
