For sale or trade a PS2 TEST DTL-H30001 with security property stickers: Midway Home Entertainment / Games West Inc. (US/NTSC model 110v)

*Note laser seems to be sloppy lately, it still plays all region retail or masterdiscs (sometimes at once with no delay but most times it takes long to boot or it doesnt boot at all and needs a reset for another try.)
Maybe the laser is fine and just needs adjustment/finetuning or cleaning but as I am not that handy and don't feel like opening the unit or replacing the laser if needed so it's up for grabs or trade for somebody that feels comfortable messing around with the insides.

The unit looks good overall and is still sealed (so unopened) top has some small marks almost not visible but the underside is quite scratched.

    Looking for [Reserved] (paypal)
or will trade for modded retail PS2 w small hdd & networkcard (no cables needed)
Unit only comes with US powerplug.

Will ship worldwide, dutch postal service is cheap, shipping will probably not exceed 15-30 euro to most worldwide destinations.

Any questions or in need of more pictures/movie let me know.

These models are equipped with a small step-motor which detects laser adjustments and depths to establish a better reading of the disc. If the unit isn't picking up or reading as quickly as possible then it could require a good clean or sadly a new laser! It is however an excellent unit to obtain due to it being multi-region. If anyone is buying this, I am considering putting together a repair guide for the Test series as I have a few of them now and it might be of interest.

    Good luck!

Hmm, If it doesn't sell I might be intrested in it (depending on the price ofcourse). This might be a chance for me to get one with cheap shipping. :)

I'm interested if it's quite possible to replace the laser myself.

10 minute job if you have a suitable laser. Should take a KHS-400B/C or 3rd party of same rating. Also consider replacing the laser guide arm at the same time. http://www.darkplanets.co.uk/ps2/laser-guide-arm.asp

Although that is a CRAZY price!! Lets you see exactly what I mean though. Get one on eBay! <First one I spotted> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PS2-PLAYSTATION-2-LASER-ARM-NEW-PRO-SPARE-PART_W0QQitemZ190189677309QQihZ009QQcategoryZ11328QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

You'll also need some Silicon grease, which is available in tubes in most electrical suppliers.

I see what you mean they are going for 1.30 euro on ebay and the lasers for around 33 euro.

Maybe I should keep this unit and try to fix it up myself :) but already reserved so I'm too late and I would probably break something anyway lol.

Thanks for your posts they are very handy!

Damn, if I had realised that Port I would have posted up a repair guide as frankly I thought most people here would have attempted a laser replacement on the Test models as it is so close to retail.

The only PS2 I ever disassembled was a mates of mine that was already broken anyway, and even with a step by step youtube guide I managed to break some cables and had a hustle with placing back the dvd drive :/ hence I don't want to mess around with a still "working" TEST PS2 as I'll probably leave it messed up with mcguyver like fixes and chewing gum to keep it together

If the sale of the party interested doesn't work out I'll maybe keep the unit and have a go at it.. or pay somebody to do it lol :033:
