Picked this up a few years ago.
Looks absolutely mint with no scratches.
I believe it's blank....no way of testing.

There's no writing or other unsightly markings on this GD-R

If you come down to $20 what I have paid for everyone I have ever bought you have a taker but that is just way to pricey for my pockets since I still have 6 blanks.

Yes but they are still being sold on eBay for $20 each blank right now except for the Katana disc as those are uber rare. I am not trying to low ball him just an offer as I am sure someone might want this but it is limited to those with a dev box and collectors.

I bought 2 spindels of 50 each back in 2003, I have seen them go up to as much as $45 to another time not getting any takers at $12. But overall I don't see them ever declining in value from around $30 a disc. I put some up on ebay from time to time at around $50 and they may get snagged, and then again they may not.

What does it do? and will it be able to work on retail too?

 

It's a blank/empty GD-R disc where developers used to burn their code on back in the day. So for now it's more of a novelty.

 

As above, but think of it is a CD-R for GD-ROM

It will only play the burned game via the SYSTEM-DISC 2 boot disc or using the wombat swop trick, but obviously as these are blanks there is no game on them to boot.

I think every collection needs at least one, but they are probably coming towards the end of their usefulness as the dyes can't be expected to last forever. It would probably look great in a frame mounted on a wall like those platinum albums etc though!

 

I think it's reasonable to expect the GDRs could still be viable to write on for another few years if they have been stored and treated well thus far. I have old CDrs from various different manufacturers I burned back in the late 90s which can still be read with seemingly no major problems. In fact, I discovered a blank CDR among some of these 90s CDRs recently and decided to write a full cd of data to it and encountered no problems. I have DC scene releases I burned back in 2000 and 2001, and aside from a few where the data/dye layer flaked off due to their utter budget cheapness, the others still work surprisingly.

10 years could be just the start of the end of GDR viability, with GDRs more likely to remain viable for 15 or 20 years.
