What's the best FTP program out there? Both free and not-so-free.

FlashFXP is great especially the option to ftp a file from 2 external ftp servers, but the software is not free :(

Have you guys heard of servage? It's a web hosting company we use. It's great in some ways because they offer 510 GB space and over 5 TB traffic for peanuts ($10 a month), but we get a CRC error quite often. Is it the web hosting company or the ftp program?

Did you try setting your ftp client to binairy instead of ascii in the preferences or settings?
What ftp client are you using now?

I've used IE6 in the past, but now we've been forced to upgrade to IE7 and the [lack of] ftp abilities have forced us to use a standalone program for it. I've tried a few, and like FTP Surfer for it's minimalistic UI. However, I can't see an option to switch to binary. I'll try filezilla before saying anything more.

Not all FTP servers are happy with that crappy IE client, I would strongly recommend not using it and checking for a standalone ftp client like filezilla/flashfxp/ws_ftp/cute_ftp and such.

FileZilla is my FTP program of choice, although I only use it to FTP to my Xbox and occasionally xbins.

I use FlashFXP and CuteFTP, both very good programs to use, easy to start with but good advanced functionality as well

I used to use CuteFTP, it's kind of cheap and really easy and quick to use. Now like I use FTP just to update my site I use Dreamweaver, it has everything I need and like I already have Dreaweaver, I don't have to pay for it :icon_bigg

I switched over to SmartFTP after FileZilla didn't want to cooperate with xbins. Randomly disconnecting from my Xbox doesn't seem to be a problem anymore, either.

I use Servage, never had an FTP problem. I use either FlashFXP or Filezilla. FlashFXP is preferable, but not free.
