I'm surprised more games don't have Custom Soundtracks. I did.....INTERESTING things with Tekken Tag 2 since replacing my 360 copy with the PS3 version. One of the Boss fights I have A Flight of the Conchrods song playing. (Business time while fighting Ogre) I found a rip of the Killer Instinct soundtrack and tossed that in then dressed Xaioau and Michelle up like Orchid. Church stage I changed to the Bayontta theme and made a Bayonina. Then there are other things I just can't explain. Does anyone else get creative with Custom soundtracks or is it just me?
Custom soundtrack (aka: Tekken Tunes) option is also available in the 360 version. Works better too. But yes! I enjoy usinv custom soundtrack feature when available. Use it a ton in Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast on OGXbox.
Once I get Ridge Racer Unbounded I'm going nuts with Outrun tracks. I find it easier to get music on PS3 than 360. PS3 load song on drive, put drive in PS3, music- Display all transefer. For 360 I think you have to brun a dsic Then ripsaid disc. Got to be a real pain.
Virtually any 360 game can have a "custom soundtrack". All you have to do is turn off the music in-game, and play your own music with the built-in player. I used to do this with DOA4, since I didn't like the music in that game.
I really, REALLY enjoyed the Tekken Tunes option with Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Some of the tracks I ended up including in it were: Offline Mode: Yakuza 3 Original Soundtrack - Illtreatment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t2o7YZ0Xe0 Online Mode: Resident Evil 5 Original Soundtrack - On The Bass OR Colors, usually the first one otherwise it's the default Battle Cry from TTT2 World Arena: Quadra - Voice of Reason - Bless The Robot (Original Mix) Warm-up Space: Kaito (who is Quadra/Hiroshi Watanabe) - Hundred Million Love Years - Soul of Heart (Beatless) OR NieR Gestalt & RepliCant Original Soundtrack - The Ultimate Weapon Character Select: Moonlit Wilderness -D.T.O. I can't be bothered to list the rest but there's a few of my more commonly used tracks in TTT2. I also switch in some music by The Cure, more tracks by Rob Dougan, some Biohazard/Resident Evil music (namely Rust in Summer 2008 or Live Evil and some earlier tracks) or some music by Lorn too. I have a varied music taste so I often switch around music whenever I can have custom soundtracks in games or when I mod PC games too so that's all I can remember for my latest tracks off the top of my head. Though in doing so for custom soundtracks... It's just made me realize I may have too much music.... CDs, vinyl, digital and the like...
Yup! If i recall correctly you don't even have to turn off the music in-game. Enabling the Custom Sountrack will automatically disable the in the game music. At least that's how it works when i played SF4, VF5 Online, Tekken 6, Burnout Revenge and so on.
I used to play mercenaries in Resident Evil 6 while listening to the chocobo theme from Final Fantasy. On the 360 version, of course.
For Fontana di Trevi / ITALY <strong> It works that way on PS3 too. Though the only game I tried it with was MVC2.
I remember some PC games would let you put in a music CD instead of the game CD so you could listen to different music. One of the Carmageddon games did this and also Quake.
Ridge Racer 1 was one of the first to let you play other music in game. but Sting and Ridge Racer...Dunno what I was thinking then.
Custom soundtracks with OutRun?! Why?! Unless it's for SST live stuff: or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAsqQ94N9MU
The original XBox had a custom soundtrack feature, whereby a game could play any songs you'd put on the hard drive from your own CDs. Sadly, not many games used this feature (and all of the ones I can think of are driving games - GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, some or all of the Burnouts, and Midnight Club 3). The GTA games did it very well, though, allowing you to flick through the virtual CDs/songs at will, though of course the music only played when you were in the car, not on foot. To me the custom soundtrack is a fantastic feature, as it's brilliant being able to play your favourite songs instead of the ones that come with the game (especially some of the Burnout games, which come with awful 'songs'). For some reason, though, none of the driving games on the 360 did this, even though you'd think they would. Actually, maybe some did, but I'm sure GTA IV, GTA V, Saints Row 2, and Saint's Row 3 didn't. Yes, but it's not quite the same, as the game doesn't control the music and you have to hope you can turn off the music (or reduce the music volume) without making the game sound effects too quiet to hear.
For Castlevania: Rondo of Blood I once used some Symphony of the Night tracks, and while it was pretty neat at first, most of the SotN OST wasn't well-suited for Rondo's more fast-paced and linear nature. So a new thing I'm working on at the moment is grabbing MIDI files of Rondo tracks (when available) and running them through NES and Genesis soundfonts to give the music a feel more akin to the native PC-Engine sound chip.
I've been using it for Wipeout HD to great effect - load it up with the soundtracks to all previous Wipeout games, goes great with the retro tracks included in the game! I remember people on Wipeoutzone exchanging soundtracks and playlists even, to much heated debate (I think somebody had one made up out of nothing but 1980s glamrock, he got ridiculed)
OH man I sure could go for some wipeout right now. All I have currently is the amazing Wipeout XL. Which probably has THE BEST Licensed soundtrack of all time.
