Ive been thinking on moving out Brazil for quite a while now, dont have many job oportunities here as well violence and tax keep going up to absurd rates. Gonna probably try to go to Canada or USA. Not sure when this will take place, maybe in a couple years, maybe in a decade, but as things are here, I cant seen myself wanting to stay much longer... With that in mind, I started thinking about my collecting habits latelly, most of my stuff is all imports, due to high taxes here. For example, its cheaper to import a game from Japan (most expensive shipping to here) than buy a Brazillian copy of the game localy. Even so Im spending some serious cash comparead to other collectiors from other countries, which leads to me to think what Im goona do till I move out. Should I keep colletcing as normal even if I would pay much less if I lived in Canada for example? Should I stop buying and save money? What should I do with my current collection when I move: Should I take It with me and probably pay some crazy money to ship all this, or should I just sell almost everything and start from a scratch on my new place? Been thinking about this lately and would apreciate you guys opinion on the subject, and if anyone passed through a similar dilema.
I would set goals and prioritize them from 1 to 10. 1 being most important 10 being least. Plan out how much money it will take for each of them and how long it will take you to accomplish them. For example if you decide you want to move. Figure out what needs to happen and how much money it will take. I often figure in selling my collection as a shortcut to my goals. So far I haven't sold it yet and it's been worth it to just take my time. Your situation may be different though. Your collection may get a good premium being sold in Brazil and you could just rebuy it all later when you move. Sounds like a win win to me but only you know all the intricacies of your situation.
