Game Boy Color doesn't power on.

Hello everyone!

I have a Game Boy Color that doesn't power on anymore. It's been like this for a couple years now but I've never got around to fixing it.

Last time I tested it, I used an ac adapter and a Pokemon Yellow cart. It flashed a red light and erased my Pokemon Yellow save data.

Any ideas on how to fix it? Is it a blown fuse?

Clean that battery compartment before anything else, I'd say. Sorry to hear about your save data on Pokemon Yellow.

 

I will before opening it. I wasn't very far in yellow version so it wasn't a huge deal. I have a GBC game (in the cart slot in the photos) now that doesn't have a battery so I'll use that for testing.

Funny thing about that Pokemon Yellow mishap, the battery still works after all that. It really made me scratch my head and I still don't know how that happened.

 

So I had my Dad take a look at it and he was able to clean out the corrosion from the battery compartment. It works fine now! I'll just have to use batteries from now on but that's ok. I got rechargeable batteries
