Game Boy Color Frontlight mod - Fill air void under front plastic with LOCA?

I had a question about the Game Boy Color frontlight mod, I'm wondering if anybody had any insight.

I've got a few GBC, and I just did the frontlight mod on one, it worked pretty good. I used the LOCA method, which involves spreading LOCA between the LCD and the frontlight to remove any air gap.

However, on installation, there is an air gap between the new frontlight panel, and the front plastic cover of the game boy - probably about an eighth of an inch. Is it plausible to fill this gap with LOCA as well to remove any air gap at all? I know this would make a fairly permanent installation, but is that amount too thick to cure properly? Has anybody tried this?
