So i'm thinking on getting those transparent pvc protectors for the 2 PS3 steelbooks i have and maybe for my small PS1 longbox collection. Where do you buy them from? I've came across two sites, have no idea which one is the best or not. The sites i found: www.videogameboxprotectors.com and www.retroprotection.com Which is the best? Any other options?
Hello we just produce those PET Box Protectors by ourself now. Latest formats are single and double cd jewel case for mega-cd games for example. Anyway if you are in Germany it might be more cheaper to buy in our ebay or online shop instead of other european countrys to save shipping cost. greetz rob from RNR ... http://stores.ebay.de/retronrarecom
I only ordered from Videogameboxprotector because their prices are generally cheaper than other places. I'm ok with their boxes but wish they are a bit thicker.
I know they're not really cheap (specially when i add the shipping to Brazil), but they're probably worth to avoid scratches on steelbooks and to protect those incredible fragile PS1/Saturn longboxes. Buying from europe would be worse for me. What protectors did you ordered? Could you tell more about them?
Actually there are different types on the market. Some are more thin 0,3 mm and some are more thick like 0,4 mm - 0,5 mm . Also the fit is different. So the best thing you can do is order like a small ammount of samples to see what is your choice.
I don't really see the point of these. If you take good care of your games and keep them on a shelf when you're not using them, what's going to happen to them? Earthquake? Cat/dog attack? Zombies?
Johnny - that's the issue too shipping for these are a pain. Even locally with sellers here are charging over $3 for postage, and that's for one. You could probably wrap your long boxes in acid free table coverings from a pattern store. I have a feeling they're somewhat made of the same shit anyway. Not sure how much you'd make from a metre of it though.
Steelbooks are easily scratched and can be affected by rust. And pratically all my PS1 longbox games are used copies, so protecting them is a concern. Thanks for the suggestion. Will check that option.
Honestly, unless there's some super rare edition out there, PS3 steelbooks will never be worth anything anyway.
I ordered a ton of stuff from videogameboxprotectors.com NES, SNES, SNES Big box, N64, 3DO, PS1/DC/Saturn, PS1 Double, PS2/XBOX/GC/DVD, PS3/4. I'm generally pleased with the quality with his prices (less than 50cent per piece for most boxes) but sometimes I wish he has a thicker version that I could buy.
I have been considering getting these cases myself. At least now I know that there have been users who have bought from that website as well. Although I have an issue as that they have not answered back one of my questions. I have been looking for cases for the medium CD games such as Batsugun, Cotton 2, Linda^3 and things of that nature. I even asked some other member on ebay and no response. Is there really no cases for these?
I get mine from Walmart. Now and then the idiot cashier forgets to remove security case off the games and DVD I buy, and I've fashioned a magnetic key substitute that lets me open the case anytime so I have quite a few nearly indestructible cases to protect my most valuable games. (PS no I am not sharing the instruction, the custom made key in the wrong hand will cost store a lot via theft, and force them to raise price to offset losses. Not to mention a few extra thousand fines and few extra months in jail for having tool just to commit crime. Hope your Google-Fu is very strong)
I've order from videogameboxprotectors.com as well and never really had any issues. I have only purchased them for cardboard stuff though, that's normally where I run into issues with stuff getting beat up. For CDs or anything else with a hard case poly bags work perfectly fine.
I have looked at Alibaba before. The minimum order they would take is 3000 pieces. That's way too many for my needs
Shelf Space Saving Plastic Envelope In Japan, many games and movies are protected in matched to size plastic envelope bags. The bag has a 3m glue strip that can be opened and resealed repeatedly. My local Japan owned BookOff store here in the US sells all their movies and games in the perfect space saving envelopes. I save and use the "bags" for any steel books and cardboard lined movies and games. For larger special edition cases, just look for a matched large sandwich cut to size. The resealable plastic envelope is on the left, the 3m glue strip runs vertical in the picture.
I'm going to allow this post, and only this post - as the OP asked where he can buy from and you answered. However, please note the following: We have clear rules about selling and advertising on this forum. Please read and follow them.... in particular, the marketplace rules. Your posts have been caught by the anti-spam system as you posted a link in your first post. Again, read this. You would have got a message telling you it was awaiting approval. Please don't keep posting the same thing just because you don't see it immediately. That said, your posts have been denied as advertising. You've linked to your eBay store - please don't keep trying to sell your wares via this thread, or any others. That includes bombarding it with high resolution photos. Please accept that some people LIKE poly bags. Your product is just an alternative. On that note, is PET acid free and archival quality? Not always, no. If you really care about preserving people's video games rather than making money out of them, you'd be making your products out of a material that's not going to contribute to the degradation of the packaging and proudly advertising them as acid free. Johnny, I would only EVER buy a product from a known manufacturer of archival quality products, such as protectors for comic books and baseball cards. There are far too many people just out to make a fast buck with these products that, in the long run, could contribute to the degradation of your games.
