Hi silly question I know as most people here are into game dev , and know a ton more about it then me , but... I am getting together a team of people to release some games , some on retro kit , some on more modern kit. For obvious reasons I dont want to give to much away at the moment , but this is for real and is happening , just a question of how successful it gets. There are already various people involved , but as the plan is for this to be a long running thing , we need a pipeline of games , so....if you have some and would like to see them on real kit , and hopefully being sold making us all some money (just dont buy the porsche on the strength of it just yet !) then get in touch , there is a very basic web site up at http://www.retro-soft.co.uk , this will be replaced in the next few days all being well by a proper site , someone else is doing it as I type ! Anyway , if you would like to get involved in any way please mail me , the more the merrier , and thanks for your time in reading this post ! Regards Paul A
Yeh, it's 1 thing to have the hardware and the software and the team to do it, but the legality of it is not a likely prospect. Unless for example you've paid $20k or a PSTOOL direct from Sony (or for whatever kit from whoever), chances of selling games and not getting sued are literally impossible! The way the market works nowadays is not as you would think, it's not so much of a case of a developer making a game then finding a publisher to press it (although of course it still happens), it's more of a publisher finding a developer to work on something for them. Also moved the topic - it's not really a for sale discussion so why it was in the sales board who knows :smt1069
Well yes, there is the legality of developing on some hardware, which needs to be looked into. You can't properly press for several formats. Having said that, there are some formats you seem to be able to do this for, e.g. Jaguar. Modern consoles I believe all require a license to code for, and several of the recent ones. Anyway, my services are available as audio technican - sound effect, music etc. ;-) By the way, you didn't leave a contact e-mail, and some people would be hesitant about filling in online contact forms, perhaps ;-)
yes ! Dont panic - dont plan to do nothing illegal , any games put put in the FIRST phase will belong to the writers of them or 'us' , and will only be going out on formats we can put them out on at FIRST - will be working on getting the SECOND lot of games out on modern formats , whilst nothing is in concrete YET looking positive , and making the right connections as we all know is half the battle , dont want to say much more than that yet. Lets put it this way when bg companies smell money they dont want to miss out on something. Sorry about being in wrong bit of forum by the way , if anyone can move the thread please put it in the right bit - email to send to is - 'info@(removeforspam)retro-trader.com' - and thanks to those who have wrote to me already. This is a big task but can and will be done ! Regards Paul A
