I LOVE NIGHTS, it's a relaxing game I have no idea what's going on, and sometimes, it cheers me up when I need it.

The entire reason for this threat is I noticed something. On the Saturn and 360, I'm pretty good at getting at least a C rank in the stages. HOWEVER on PS2 and PS3 I SUCK AT NIGHTS. The first boss that baloon fat lady you have throw under that table or whatever, I couldn't beat her for anything using a Duel shock.

However I have a Power A controller that's more like a 360 pad for PS3, I used that to play nights and I'm doing just as well as I do on Saturn/360.

It's like playing Nights with a PlayStation controller makes the game harder.

This ever happen to you? You can't play a game on a particular system due to the controller but once you use an alternate be it from a another system via an adapter or a 3rd party controller the game isn't so bad.

    That's why I avoid PC gaming; I can't stand keyboard + mouse.

Same with me unless it's an FPS. Controllers suck for FPS.

Yup, FPS are great with keyboard and mouse, just point and shoot.

I don't use the stock PS3 controller for the Arkham games because it's so fragile. Hell all button mashers require you to get a really sturdy controller. That's why I use either a DS2 or a Hori Ps1 controller.

Third Person games are also pretty solid with a mouse + keyboard combo. Racing games can be a nightmare, especially with the WASD set-up. I've noticed RPGs aren't too bad with the keyboard + mouse set-up, although it seems nothing will beat a controller.

Mine is probably an exception but due to gaming very early on PC when I was young. I am most proficient at keyboard + mouse over just about everything. Even fighting games. The only issue I get is hitting the simultaneous keypress limit.

Also due to this bias I actually think analog controls are inferior to a mouse.

I must be the only person who can't game on mouse and keyboard (except for something like an RTS, which is pretty much mandatory). It's probably because, for FPS games, I put so much time into Halo 2 that anything else seems wrong to me.

I will say Max Payne 3 on 360 was considerably harder on normal mode than the PC version on hard was for me.

Oh, the hours playing Halo 2... that was my GoldenEye 007.

Emulating Magical Drop 3 for the MVS on my PS3 and PSP is way harder than playing on the arcade machine. After a little while on the DualShock 3 my hands start to hurt while on the arcade I could play for hours. I can get about 200,000 tops on the PS3, while on the arcade machine I can get 300,000

Playing NiGHTS with anything other than the Saturn 3D controller should be a crime.

I still hate myself for buying NiGHTS on the 360. Played it for a few seconds and then deleted it in disgust.

I don't remember how far I am in the 360 version. On PS3 I have The final stage for Eliot open, but not Claris.
That final dream or whatever is HARD no matter what controller you use.

    Depends.

If you're playing for score/rank then no, the final stage is not hard. Not at all, in fact, because you only make one pass through each Mare of the level. This is in contrast with every other level in the game, where you have to quickly release the Ideya so you can get the multiplier as soon as possible and then make very fast runs through the Mare over and over again until the clock is just about to hit 0 at which point you can finish the Mare.

If you're just playing for completion then yeah, the final stage is difficult because you only have one timer for the entire thing.

In my experience, the Super Monkey Ball games are best played with the GameCube controller when possible. The grooves in the analog stick just make movement feel more "right".

Oblivion on pc. Seriously. It has the option in the menu for Gamepad. It detects a Gamepad. But it's impossible to play with it. You have to edit the oblivion.ini file in order to make the controller at least work as you'd expect, but even then, you still need to use the mouse to navigate your inventory. This doesn't make sense, seeing as the game was released on the 360. Why didn't they just port the controller code to the pc version? Even in an update a year later?. So, yeh, it's hard to play with a Gamepad. Stick to mouse and keyboard.

I also think the PS1 d-pad makes playing certain games more difficult. I have a Hori PS1 controller that has a more traditional disc-type d-pad, and it definitely makes certain games easier, or at least more enjoyable to play. Einhänder is rather hard to play with the PS1 d-pad. That game requires fast d-pad movements, which kind of sucks on a PS1 controller. The game is much improved with the Hori controller. That controller is good for 2D games or any game that doesn't have analog controls.

See I didn't know that. I thought you had to release the Ideya......I didn't even know Mare and Ideya were what the sections/things that had to be hit were until just now.

I've never got on with the Playstation pads - can't stand the dpad or analog sticks and the PS3 triggers were horrible IMO, I really struggled with Black on PS2 as I just found the right stick to be sub-standard for FPS games. I'm ok with an XBox pad though, not as good as M&K but decent enough. Gamecube and XBox360 are the only official pads that nailed analog sticks for me.
