Does anyone know if this will work on my mini SNES? Also I was told this coul dplay any game but they had to be split up with a app called Ucon. Anyone here got one of these that can kind of explain how these work? Also is the RAM upgradeable?
It should work on any SNES, but some random consoles are incompatible with many backup units. It can't play every game, but it can play nearly every game. Of the <30 games it can't playback, there are quite a few popular titles. Some games will have protection which will have to be cracked by uCON64. The RAM is not upgradeable past 32M(egabits). I hope that if you're on this board you'll be able to figure out how it works PS: this is probably the most appropriate place to ask questions about backup units: http://www.tototek.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=10
I am sure I can I just wanted to see if anyone had an suggestions on it as I have only used flash carts and the SNES one's are hard to get.
I had the same problem, I picked up a similar unit and the games needed to be split and (I guess?) transferred to the unit and then patched together. I looked around and ucon64 seemed like the tool to use = but I could never figure it out. I'd also like to see a 'simple' tutorial so I can use it one day.
Yea I am having Ucon lock up on me but I had a semi botched install of my OS last time and I think with a reformatt that will fix it. So long as you can use CMD prompts it seems to be straight forward. Once I get it in the mail I will get you a tutorial as I found out there is a owners manual with it as well.
Try downloading the GUI for ucon64. It takes some time to figure it out but once you get it, it's really simple. The only problem is that you'll need a floppy drive or a parallel port to play the games. I have some split files ready for gd7 (chrono trigger, link to the past, secret of mana, tales of phantasia dejap, sf2). I don't know if there the same as gd3 PM me if you want any.
I have an SF3...no parallel port, so it's floppies only. Remember, it won't read anything without it's own separate power supply.
Yea it is complete still in it's box with instructions. I guess he got a SUperwildcard and a 10gb HDD so he doens't need this copier anymore.
Indeed the GDSF3 has no parallel port. I heard there was a cartridge card that had the port on it though. You'll likely never find it these days.
