does anyone know a site where i can get a game gear modded for tv output in the uk?
i had one bookmarked and was gonna get the mod from them but i lost all my bookmarks when opera stopped working for whatever reason.
i'm now using firefox but i'm having no luck finding the site again. it was called something like oldschool(something) and the site was offering nes region mods and stuff like that. they were also doing the cap replacement mod for game gear.
if anyone knows the site i'm talking about or another place doing the rgb tv mod that would be great.

You can post a WTB in the marketplace if you want. I'm sure someone here will be willing to do it for you. There are some new options if you would like to explore them:

McWill on AtariAge has made a new screen for the GG which uses the digital video signals found on the system and not analog composite video, giving a really good image. In addition, it has an optional VGA (RGBHV) output.

Tim Worthington, the maker of NESRGB, has a GGTV board which supports RGBS (used in SCART), Composite video, and S-Video.

OzOnE is making an HDMI board which works on the Game Gear. It should be out in December. It bypasses analog video completely, giving you the best picture possible on the Game Gear.

I recommend waiting for the HDMI mod but if you want RGB, go with either McWill's screen or Tim's GGTV board.

Maybe this link would help? http://retrorgb.com/gamegearrgb.html

The RGB kit is cheapest of all but it does not correct for tiny screen when playing Game Gear games, only SMS games has full screen.

McWill mod costs a lot but you get to replace the stock LCD and have VGA out *and* no more tiny GG game screen.

i'm gonna have to get the installation done aswell. i have not purchased a game gear yet so i was thinking my best option would be to buy a pre modded rgb tv game gear refurbished with new caps.
i have seen footage of how the screen looks on a tv with the rgb tv mod and ok it is not full screen but it looks pretty decent and is better tah playing on a very small game gear screen.
screens that small are hard work on my eyes lol.

I think OzOnE's HDMI board will make the games fullscreen for both Master System and GG games. It might just be for Master System games though.

If you're willing to pay a bit more, look into McWill's mod. You get new LCD and VGA output, full screen with both GG and SMS games (RGB board does not do that with GG games), and you have scanline options if you wanted old LCD look. And there's plenty of cheap VGA to anything converter (got composite/S-Video converter for $5)

He's in Europe so shipping would be cheap. Modding is about the same as RGB mod board. All you'd need is to find a friend who can do the mod if you don't want to do it. Make sure he/she does recap as well. Offer a few pint of good drink for his/her time.
