Yes, it's another thread about a video game show. BUT... but this is a little different. Those of you who know me on this board probably know that I'm from Studio Happy Chicken, the only foreign run gravure idol studio in Japan. The folks here at the studio are big retro games fans, and so we're combining what we love with what we do and I want to get everyone's opinions. The show is called GAME GIRLS GO! and features Japanese bikini models playing retro video games. Think Game Center but with attractive, scantily clad players who are not good at games what so ever. At the beginning of each episode we meet the contestant who will then be given a retro game and a series of 3 challenges. If they are able to complete the in-game challenges within a set period of time they win a prize! If they do not, then they have to undergo a "humiliation" or "punishment". Each episode will have a 20 min run time. The games featured will all be Japanese releases and the show will primarily focus on 8-bit and 16-bit games, with some overflow into 32-bit; but due to the nature of the show, arcade style games work best, I think. Nothing will be emulated, all the games will be running on their original hardware, and we'll feature a little about the the history of the machine and the game itself. The end product is planned to be shown on a gaming website... we haven't made any deals yet or even approached anyone yet because we're just starting pre-production. What sites would you like to see this appear on? Additionally, after one season has "aired", we'll release GAME GIRLS GO! on DVD and Blu-Ray (as well as iTunes download and the like) with additional gravure style content, game related, of course. What games would you like to see us feature? We are really looking forward to hearing the ASSEMBlergames collective voice on this.
I'd like to see a scantily clad lady having some fun on Sega Rally for the Sega Saturn. Would be interested in Blu-Ray, but DVD makes more sense since UK shares that region - unless I get a Blu drive for my PC..
Oh boy, oh boy!! I hope this project will be going on for a while. Not sure what genres would suit your idea of the show best, so I'll write down three suggestions for every major arcade-ish genre: Platformer: Mizubaku Daibouken (PC-Engine or Saturn ver.) Gekisha Boy (PC-Engine or PSX ver.) Sutte Hakkun (SFC) Puzzle: Moai-kun (FC) Lup Salad (PSX) Quarth (FC) Action: Nazo no Murasame-Jou (FC Disk) Gun Force (SFC) Wild Guns (SFC) 1vs1 for exciting bikini battles, the loser will have to do the humiliation stuff you mentioned: Windjammers (MVS/NGH/CD) Sonic Council (SAT) (since it's a girlie fighter, but a good one) Aquarush (arcade pcb) (backwards-tetris, absolutely addictive)
If I replaced wrestling with hot girls in bikinis in my show would you spread the word.... It'd be hard to pull off but hey.....
Some of the games we have lined up so far are: Panorama Cotton (MD) Letal Enforcers (MCD) Mr. Bones (SAT) SD Splatterhouse (FC) Otocky (FDisk) Coryoon (PCE) Bomberman '94 (PCE) The home release will probably feature some more edgy bonus episodes like Yakyuken Special (SAT), and the Virtual Cameraman series (3DO). We'll also most likely do mid-season and end of season 1-on-1 girl battles as well.
I think Dead or Alive would be cool. As far as 16-bit games, I agree with Sutte Hakkun. Thunder Force IV might be interesting as well.
Is it weird that might pants might get tighter from original hardware than from scantily clad women? DoA Xtreme Beach Volleyball for redundant silliness!
That is weird, Alec. It should be both. Bomberman 94' will definitely be awesome, and so would Sutte Hakkun as others have said. I had suggestions but then I lost my train of thought. Just get a lot of SFC in there!
How about Mario Kart 64 or the original Ridge Racer for PSX? And why just limit it to 8, 16 or 32 BIT systems? If you wanted to be especially evil/vindictive I can see a lot of mileage in high score challenges on ''bullet hell'' shooters for systems like the more recent PlayStation 2, Dreamcast and 360
I'd like to see some scantily clad ladies clearing Akumajou Dracula x, Gate of Thunder and R-Type on the Pc Engine. Possible?
