    Hey guys,

remember I was playing the Adventures of the Count on the commodore Vic20 well, my mother saw it and got amazed!
Let me explain, my mother works inside the brazilian government with "special education", that is: education for needed people, like deaf people, blind and people with not full brain capability.

So the idea, develop a text based game, like those Scott Adams adventures for blinds.

The game need just a simple structure, to be playable under windows and have voice recognition. It needs to be able to read the texts on the screen and recognize commands in the voice of the player.

This could be sold to Brazilian Government to be released freely on schools, but the government pays very well.
I have no knowledge on coding so the development of the game and how to set up voice recognition to it, it's entirely up to the developer.

The only part I can help is translating it to portuguese, since it needs to be in portuguese.

Reply if you are interested in a long term project that can benefits you and a lot of other people.

Not sure what you are trying to do as there are screen readers for blind people that exist and they do work very well, there are even USB braille screens, so blind peope can read text on the screen using braille.

Voice recognition exists as well and it has got to the stage where it is quite good, although it is still a pain for similar sounding words.

There are also games specifically for the blind, Bavisoft (http://www.bavisoft.com/products.htm) have made adventure games that are spoken audio and use 4 keys so a player can cycle through choices and select them.

    Oh =(

To bad the idea already exist. But as far as I know there are no adventure game for blind people here in Brazil.

If someone would like to create one with me, I can do the translation and pass this idea to the government.

    Are you interested?

Maybe rather then trying to do brand new content you could try and licence the games that are currently exisiting and trying and get a grant to redub the audio parts of the games so they could be sold back?

You may need to write a proper proposal to both the government agency and the people of the the software companies. If you can get the software companies to agree in principle to licence you the games then it might be easier to get a grant.

Send me a PM as I know people who work for two of the companies that produce games for the blind and I shall be going to Brasilia at the end of Janurary too for business.

Ok, since this is getting serious, I'll talk with my mom with a serious proposal to the government.

As they say in the Video game business 'Ideas are a dime a dozen'. At least you have something to contribute instead of just an idea. Be careful they don't write you out. Pro devs will take over and give you a couple of bucks for translating.

Dude you dont go to a gaming forum asking for people to code a game for you.

I'm not making a joke here, in fact I can't think of any site or forum where you cant do this without concocting a "serious" business presentation or something.

This is just an idea I'm throwing in the air to see if sometimes happen.
I'm no serious dev and this is not a Microsoft call.

Besides, by the number of PMs I got I would say you are mistaken.

Still, I need to talk with my mom about this. This may result in something, or this may result in nothing. Either way it's a good thing to check.

You may be better off finding an engine to use and use those forums to get more support.

veggav: there are even text to speech programs for Linux. So make the game multi platform or open source. Cause I believe people who uses Linux (there is even a Blind Linux programmer), would probably have some joy with that too.
