Gameboy color speaker replacement.

I have a bad speaker in my old Gameboy Color and was wondering where to find a replacement? I tested a Game Gear speaker which works but is too large to fit in the GBC shell. Are there any other devices that would work? Perhaps the newer Gameboy/DS speakers would work? Would the speaker from a Wii remote work by chance?

Well work and fit should really be what to ask. I just tested a small speaker from an ear bud and it works as well but it way too weak for sound output from a distance.

Well I opened my old DS with a broken touch screen and pulled the speaker. Works great in the GBC! Answered my own question. I had a feeling this was going to be harder than I thought. I had to modify the inside of the shell to accommodate the tabs that stick out from the speaker. Guess I now know what my next project is.
