    Hello

I've come across a rather unusual Game Boy that I'm trying to find more information about as I can't find any information online.

It's a yellow Game Boy Color that seems to be a Limited Edition for the film 'The Beach' It has black palm trees on the left and the 'The Beach' printed on the centre bottom. As I can't find any information on it online I did start to wonder if they were just some unusual transfers put on by a child. But with proper inspection the seem to have been professionally printed onto the system.

Could anyone shed any light on this?

    Thanks

Is it possible for you to post a picture? You've got me interested on this possible unknown limited edition gbc. I'll fish around the web and let you know if I find anything.

If you'd read the book "The Beach" by Alex Garland you'd understand the relevance of this promotional item; the novel's central character borrows a Game Boy from another one of the residents of the camp site around which the novel's events take place, he then describes in detail the agony and ecstasy of playing Street Fighter II on the handheld.

I'd never seen this GBC before, but it's kind of cool in a very obscure way - probably a promo item sent out with review copies of the book.

I would guess the "The Beach" graphic was screened onto regular GBCs that were sent out as a press-pack gimmick, you could contact the publishing house for more details, though the book came out 10+ years ago, so it may be that no-one remembers.

This image supposedly contains every official GBC variant:

That means that the item you have was branded after production and is not a Nintendo licensed product. I would imagine that it would still be of some value to one of the many Game Boy completeists out there.

Thanks for the reply. Is that the defienitve release of all official Gameboy Colors? if so thanks as i was looking for that. I may try the publiser route. In my own research i notice the font is the same as that used for the film posters of the Beach. So maybe a promo item for the movie. I'm familar with the book/ film so the tie in makes sence althouhg as far as i'm aware there never was a The Beach - The Game' released.

Where's a good resource/ site to try in genral for getting information on obscure retro items?
