    Hi,

I am thinking of doing some restoration work on a DMG GB I have lying around that's in pretty poor, but functional, condition. As with most DMGs the LCD screen protector (the thing that's glued onto the front) has fallen off at some point, and in this case the LCD itself has some light scratch marks on it as a result of not being protected.

I thought that the screen itself didn't have any protection on it (since the case incorporated that protector plate) and I was hoping to buff the scratches out with some glass polish, but from inspection I found that there is indeed a screen protector of sorts (like a mobile phone screen protector) stuck to the front of it - and that is presumably what is scratched. I gently lifted the corner with a knife to make sure of its existence but I didn't dare pull it off any more than that.

I can't find any info about this layer online, but I was hoping if someone could help me:

    - Can I remove this layer?
    - Is there something I can use as a replacement or do I even need a replacement?
    - Is it some kind of anti-glare measure?

    Thanks for any help!

EDIT - Maybe that could be it, there's a polarizer beneath the LCD as well, I think, but perhaps there's one on top too?

if the bottom one comes off you can test by using a pair of polarized sunglasses

I'll have to give it a try, I've already taken off the back polarizing layer as I plan on doing the backlight mod - I'll report back.

The lcd has polarized film on the bottom, also on top. I"ve replaced the top one once because it was really yellow. You can get cheap film from alliexpress. The film also has a sticky side, but i couldn't fit it without leaving some air bubbles. So I just placed it over the screen without removing the protective sheet from the polarized film.

Just to update, I have ordered some replacement adhesive polarizing films (from a German website), I'll have a go at replacing mine.
