No surprise there, problem is that Gamecube cables run what, $60+? Makes it well worth buying a Wii for such matters.

in my opinion the gamecube with the component cables looked better. i guess you would have to see it in full motion side by side to get it. i cant explain why.
naa, didnt want to waste my time.

For real. Playing the games on a Wii with component cables is not a bad alternative though if you dont want to shell out the $80 to $100.

Component on GCN(Note that you can switch to widescreen mode in the options menu when using the Wii) wins obviously, but an upscaler would probably do the job better via Component inputs > HDMI/VGA or Component output. And in 1080p Probably too.

If you set the Wii to 4:3 or the game to 16:9, you can just use Wii component then, yes?

Visually it appears to be the same, more or less.

You can set 16:9 in GX via the options menu .

It kind of strange that the GC component switched aspect ratios since component has no switching ability, especially as it was the only thing different between the GC and Wii images and prevents proper comparison. I call shenanigans by someone selling GC digital cables unless someone states otherwise. :p

Thanks for the screens, but the most useful would be to compare the scart rgb and the component I guess. Many people say it's almost the same, some say component is a bit better... who knows.

Component is a bit worse than RGB at 240p/480i, but component supports 480p and higher resolutions which makes it preferable if supported. If I remember right, PAL Gamecube games don't support component output.

That's right they don't, although early models have the digital port at the back. I was about to get the official component cable and then I found out it would not work on PAL systems.

Just like the RGB SCART won't work on US/JP systems... sigh, looks like you can't have both :-(

99% of PAL games don't support progressive scan but even interlaced i find the quality to be much better than normal composite on a PAL GCN with component cable
