I was checking out my freeloader disc for gc.

It has cracks radiating out from the center of the disc,
a sign of a poor mfg item.

I used cyanoacryliate to secure the cracks and stop the progression.

I have seen these cracks on actual Gamecube discs too, where might one find cyanoacryliate?

It's just crazy glue. You have to do it in the open with good air so it's vapors do no settle on the disc surface, I use a piece of paper with a circle cut out.

Eek. Sure I've seen PS2 and 360 games start to crack. Never like this, gamecube action replays are getting expensive now too.

Hrm never thought of using Super Glue to try to fix cracks in a piece of optical media. Have had this problem crop up a handful of times but mainly due to some idiot (not me I swear!) chip off some plastic on the inner circle.

Couldnt this be caused by people not ejecting the disc correctly (pushing down the spindle, as it says on it)?

Seems like over time the plastic would get damaged

Wonder if that's what caused this damage as well? Got it from GameStop a year or two back, only really noticed the cracks long after the fact, when I finally went to try the game out...

See your picture shows what I would expect - damage seems to start at the spindle and looks like a chunk got pushed out and from there its cracked outwards.

On the action replay it's caused by centrifugal force.

Yes, the weight of the disc causes stress fractures from the inside, on 52x drives, old 2x discs would explode if used with no speed control.

Cyanoacrylate has cappilary action so it will just soak into the cracks,

I have seen it happen on my discs from the game cases when you press the centre to eject it from the game case. My Mario Kart DD case for instance had a defect on the plastic that keeps the disc in the case, it was about 2mm too big on one side.. over time it's caused the centre to crack.

The gamecube discs are two discs glued together look at the inner circle that's the original NHL HITZ 20-02 disc.

Some swap magic discs v3.3/3.6 still contain the Crazy Taxi files and you can partially get the game to boot by using the real game elf, but it hangs at the title screen because the rest of the disc is physically missing.

I've returned a couple preowned games from disc cracks before. One was Rallisport Challenge 2 for Xbox. Put it in my machine and it made a terrible noise.

Good 'ol GameStop quality, they're not very adept at actually checking trade-ins.

I take pliers and pinch in the centers of all my Gamecube and DVD movie case disc holders. No more flexed discs from a rigid center. Now the discs pop out easily without fear of cracking the center.

    Here's my PS2 Story:

Sorry but I can't help but laugh at you breaking the disc. Was it so hard to figure out?

Older Memory Card Holder PS2 Cases
The PS2 disc is hard to grab unless it pops up, the case covers the disc edges. Unlike holding the center of a DVD style case you have to Press the center and RELEASE before removing the disc. Let the game disc pop clear and then remove.

The plier trick also works on the stubborn XBox cases.
