A few questions. Are they worth much sealed? Can a US version be used on a PAL cube? Are they useful for anything today? Walmart here in Nova Scotia has a rack full of them sealed for $20 each. It's like going back in time, wouldn't happen in the UK.
Not really, Ebay and Amazon both seem to have them for about 25 bucks. Yeah, they're totally universal. Playing Mario Kart: DD or Kirby Air Ride on LAN.
I got mine from a GameStation shop in scotland for 49p boxed. They had lots of them in the reduced bin. I got 2 broadband units and 2 modems. Not mint, but that good value.
i have 2 broadbands but never a modem, I d like one though both of them snap nicely inside my GDEVs too!
Even though they're "rare l@@k omfg" on eBay they go for $25 very often. Now, if it would have been Dreamcast Broadband adapters, that's a whole different story.
You'll need the broadband adapter to use the PSO exploit to stream game data to a PC, too. Its a great tool to have. Also along with Mario Kart: Double Dash and Kirby Air Ride, 1080 Avalanche supports network play. I have two of them, and have played some networked Mario Kart and Air Ride over it... great times!
Oh, and if I'm not mistaken you can stream (downloaded) games from your computer on a modded GC through a BBA. Never tried though, so I'm not sure.
Yep, GCOS I think had a built-in utility to stream games if I'm not mistaken, and I'm sure there were other efforts for this as well.
They were going for like $35-$50 on ebay not long ago, but then amazon clearanced them out for something like $12 each. I had a gift certificate and really want to play 16 player marioart someday, so I have 4 of them in my closet myself... So you'll probably see decently cheap sealed ones for quite some time.
Actually they aren't rare at all. I built a half assed GCdev (you can debug remotely, run iso off a server, and run homebrew) by buying sd media lancher, removing the mini-disc restriction on the casing and buying a BBA from here. http://store.nintendo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=13901¤cy=USD&catalogId=10001&tranId=0&lastAction=setCurr&storeId=10001&languageId=-1&categoryId=44009&ddkey=http:SetCurrencyPreference Boom bought right off nintendo's website. In short rarity of this item = 0%
